He knows he's been exposed?

I mean really. If he throws up another clunker in Dallas, he is FINISHED. This is the last time you'll hear about Jason Garrett being a hot prospect if he comes back to Dallas and fails.

Hahaha. You really believe that?

At this point, the only thing that will save the team is a hardnosed HC like Parcells or Shanahan. This is particularly true if we keep TO. He needs to be controlled and certainly made into less of a distraction. We should keep defenses guessing and confused as to where the ball will go rather than having a disproportionate amount go to one receiver just to make him happy.

I'm confident that a combination of bad coaching and TO is hindering Romo's development at this point. I hate to see a young up and coming coach like Garrett go, but unfortunately, our window is slowly going to close. There are only so many years that we will be stacked with this much talent, and I am not eager to waste one in order to go after Shanahan in 2010. That's a horrible idea. We need him here now. Garrett is going to have some growing pains as a coach, and I'd rather him go through all that with a bad franchise, than one that should be playing in the next 3 Super Bowls. We need a coach that the players and owner will listen to and respect. It's way out of line to ask for a GM here, but hoping for Shanahan in 2009 is certainly possible if Garrett goes.

Also, if Crennel is staying on with Mangini in Cleveland, I see no reason why Wade would leave Dallas. Jerry has paid him well and done nothing but support him publicly through these bad times.

Bottom line is that neither Wade nor Garrett has yet to win a single important game in the NFL. Jerry basically handed the keys to a Lambo over to a couple of 15 year old student drivers and it's time to bring in somebody who can actually drive this thing before it gets totaled.

I don't understand why he would even consider leaving for the Lions job.

Fresh start.

Comes with a built in-excuse.

Low expectations.

Who knows?

Maybe he's a guy who thinks his system would run best with fewer playmakers and more role players.

I really don't have a clue. I said the same thing last year regarding any opening he was looking at. I said there wasn't a job with as much talent to work with. I said he would be a fool to give up on all that talent.

But maybe I was the fool. Maybe Garrett just doesn't want that. Maybe he considers it a no-win situation.

We are so close to getting Shanny!!!!!

Yep. Haven't you heard, Shanahan wanted Romo and T.O. when he was with the Bronco's.

Thus he fulfills criteria for being the next head coach.

It is all about keeping T.O. and keeping T.O. happy for Jerry.

That is why I hate Jerry. :)

With all due respect, Hos, your love for Garrett perplexes me. I'm not sure if you watched the same games that I did, but I didn't see anything from Garrett that would suggest that as a head coach he would be able to evaluate talent (Brad Johnson?) or be able to put together a legitimate gameplan with his coordinators. The only way I see him being successful is if he surrounds himself with solid coordinators and then does absolutely nothing but be the vocal leader for the team.

Lol.

The Lions job.

Its not that bad a situation, and there's nowhere to go but up. Plus they have the 1st pick of the draft and another 1st rounder, and a ton of cap room.

They got rid of the biggest problem they had (Matt Millen).

The Lions job is actually a pretty good one. The owner leaves you alone and lets you do your thing and it's one of the better frannies in the league. I'd much rather go to the Lions than a team like the Raiders.

define one of the better franchises in the league.....because IMO, it's not in the top 1/3.

No TO, either. That's the sweetest inducement of all.

This bunch:lmao2: --they have a proven track record of never being on the same track in a 1 hour span and the track changes increase at a very rapid rate during and for at least 3 days after a game--no matter the outcome:lmao:

Because another year like last and he has NO shot at any job.

Win two games in Detroit and he's back to being a genius.:D

You know, I think you are right. They have only one way to go and that is up.

And I thought it was sometimes torture to be a Cowboys fan....

How must the poor Lions fans feel? They just go thru a winless season and the leading candidate for the HC job there is a OC whose stock has fallen hard.

In the meantime there are guys out there with championships and trophies.

Makes no sense to me.

Just like keeping Wade makes no sense to me.

I see the attraction for Garrett.

A great young WR, very good young RB, the top pick in the draft with 2 great young QBs coming out, another # 1 pick thanks to Jerry , nowhere to go but up.

Garrett would jump on it, I believe.

Oh well, good bye! I wonder how long it will take for the folks in Detroit to realize his game plans will figured out quickly...

Yeah, with all that he might be able to top 18th in offensive rank.

I understand your points here, but people on this board go on and on about what an attraction an 0-16 team is, while simultaneously putting down the team they love, which (no matter how much anybody hates Jerry) is run 100 times better than that joke in Detroit. It just amazes me. Not necessarily you, Captain America, but some folks on this board can only see the virtues of every other organization (even the 0-16 one), but they can't see the virtues of their very own Dallas Cowboys. And there are some positives to the Cowboys or none of us would be on this board.
