How would you feel if we went OT in round 1...seems like a position that is very deep...imo, chances are good that a very good OT will be available when we are on the clock. IF the OT is the highest rated player on our board, how would you feel about taking said player?

If said player is a top 10 player on the board and no one else is in the top 10 is left then yeah you take that guy. But to me that is only Matthews and Robinson and I don't think either gets out of the top 8. Lewan and Kouandjo both look very good at times, but I also saw both get abused at times as well. I don't think either is the elite/can't miss type prospect to warrant picking over other glaring needs on D.

Morgan Moses from Virginia is a pet cat of mine and I think besides Richardson from UT he is going to make the best RT in this draft. I want Doug Free's replacement to be pretty much the opposite of Doug Free. Huge, strong and a road grader in the running game. Of course the foot quickness to handle edge rushers is also very important as well.

Yes if Robinson or Kouandjio fall, but no to Lewan.

Robinson and Kouandjio could play Guard as rookies if that's a bigger need. They are both powerful and at 6-5 wouldn't have a problem playing Guard. Lewan seems more like a LT only. He does not seem like the powerful player that would be good at RT or Guard.

I've been on the OT in round one for a while especially if Robinson or Kouanjio are there. This is Free's last year under contract. The 2nd tier DL are almost as good as the top tier DL in this draft. Not so with the OL.

Agreed.

I know this needs to be a defensive draft, but I still think there is room for improvement on the Oline. Plus, getting a guy who can play T and G means Costa is definitely gone, Mack is backup C/G, and you can probably get rid of Parnell as well.

Costa yes, Parnell no, IMO. One reason I like the OG/OT type player is that I think Parnell can be really good if given a chance to start. He's a terrific physical specimen, but just needs more real game experience. He is much stronger than Free and probably more athletic. He missed the opportunity to challenge Free in training camp because he missed all but 1 preseason game with an injury and was visibly limping in that game. He will make some mistakes, but I believe that if he started a few games, that he would be better than Free. I studied Free and Parnell more than any other players, ever.

How many years straight can you say that about Parnell? There has to be a limit. Are you still thinking Matt Johnson grabs the FS spot next year as well?

Fair enough, though I still don't think Parnell will prove to be more than just a swing tackle considering Free's...resurgence if you want to call it that.. I guess a rook could just supplant Weems, but I don't see Parnell getting that chance.

They altered the scheme to help hide Free's deficiencies. I'm sure that the OL coaches would prefer an OT that does not require other players to compensate for him within the scheme.

I know, but I just don't see Parnell coming in next season and getting a legit chance to start next year. Maybe I'm wrong.

He played well in 2012 at LT when Tyron Smith was out for 1 game and missed almost all of another. It was reported that the OL coach preferred to play Parnell over Free but that management wanted to stay with the veteran. It was reported again on the radio in 2013 that some people in the organization (inferred OL coaches) liked Parnell better than Free but the higher powers said to stay with Free as the starter.

I would be OK with it if he is BPA but we still have Free for one more year unless he is released. I hate drafting players in the 1st that just play backup. I would prefer a starter.

I want a top DT with our pick and if it's not there, trade down and draft one further down, like we did with Frederick.

Unless Robinson somehow falls, going pretty much anywhere on defense would be a better pick.

Agree. If Robinson falls to them, they should run to the podium for the pick. The only way I would trade the pick if he was there, is that a team offers me their 1st, 2nd, 4th, and next years 1st and 3rd. Yeah I know I am greedy but Robinson would be worth it.

Take the best player on the board regardless of position... I would take a stud OT!

I have no issue taking a good OT, if he could play guard and tackle I'd be even more inclined. I think it's just gonna depend on who is there like always.
