How about that wasted draft pick, Escobar?

He has done what is expected of him; nothing more or less, personally I'd still rather have Bennett the nut because he is capable of catching the same passes plus his blocking is stellar for a tight end. The pick was still wasted IMO, I'm not good enough to look up who we could have had in his spot but I'm sure our defense has a player or two that could have been that second. He has done a good job at capitalizing on his opportunities though.

I think this guy has the best hands on the team- he doesnot catch with his body which is awesome to see.

He needs more targets. He is a matchup nightmare.

bennett was just too much of a headache. Rumors are that he is starting to wear out his welcome in Chicago.

Bennett didn't even catch passes in Dallas. I like him bc he's a Texas A&M boy, but he would drop the ball at the most inopportune time.

Also the second touchdown to Escobar is a route you could throw to Bennett 100 times and he might catch it once. I wasn't really down on Bennett but in reality he goes to sleep at night dreaming about having the kind of hands Escobar does.

I am thankful they are using him more in the red zone, the dude can catch and is a nightmare matchup with the 2 TE and 2 WR set in the red zone.

The TEs success underneath and up the hash with both Witten and Escobar made the Giants adjust their coverage in the second half which opened up Dez on the outside. Look at the catches Dez makes outside the hash and look at the underneath coverage.

With Parnell in the starting role, we played a lot of 3 TE sets and they were very effective. I will be interested to see Sturm's breakdown out of the grouping come Tuesday.

Escobar also had pretty good pop in the run game. You can run behind his and trust him to hold his block which is huge. He doesn't ahve Witten's power especially versus DE but he is still effective nonetheless. His hands and ability to win contested catches is elite. Very savvy route runner and Romo clearly trusts him.

Definitely starting to see that hybrid type tight end look out of him. "His" main problem was not being involved enough in our offense to constitute the high pick maybe. That seems to be a different story as of late. Love seeing more young guys emerge as factors! I would include Terrance "I only catch the ball with my body" Williams haha. They are turning into touchdown machines.

Side note: a bit of a letdown with Randle and Dunbar's production today though.

He's a threat, so we need to see him get more involved as he was tonight. It's really amazing that we have so much talent on offense that Escobar is really a luxury option.

This is the crux of the issue. If you're a tight end the one thing you have to do is catch the ball no matter what. I'm glad we drafted someone who was complete in that vital area instead of some freak athlete that's all hopes and dreams.

Yea, would like to hear from all of those who not only claimed that Escobar was a wasted pick, but who were complaining about Martellus Bennett's " production "..

He absolutely is a wasted pick if you don't use him, that was the entire point. Now he's getting targets, so surprise, surprise, the pick looks better. It's not rocket science, but don't let me stop you from your post game call outs. Carry on, it seems to be the only way some people can enjoy wins.

Perhaps then you can answer the question:

use him at who's expense ?

I'll wait..

If anyone said our 2nd round receiving TE would have 13 catches for 154 yards in 2 years, how many would be satisfied?

it shouldn't take catches for people that are paying attention to notice his contributions. we are a running team so gauging TE success primarily from pass targets doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
