The Dallas Cowboys are a team playing with a purpose these days, winning two of their last three games (with the only loss a squeaker they nearly won versus Washington). Every week is basically a must win for them in the dogfight called the NFC East. And Tony Romo's mobility has sparked their passing game.

As for their opponent, the Indianapolis Colts , they come into this game with less pressure to win, possessing a whopping four-game lead in their division.

But this Sunday's contest between the two teams will not be won by the boys with stars on their helmets. And here's the way I see it.

The situation is similar to the game Indy played with the Patriots a few weeks back. New England had a good defense, a good passing game, a solid running attack and homefield advantage. Yet the Colts took that game from the home team with timely turnovers and their own offense's steady play.

Offensively, Dallas doesn't measure up to the Patriots. Romo is no Tom Brady, and Julius Jones and Marion Barber III don't quite equal Corey Dillon and Laurence Maroney. I'll give you that Terrell Owens is better than any receiver New England had; but with Terry Glenn banged up, the Colts can double-cover the walking soap opera all day long.

True, Dallas has gained balance on offense. But so have the Colts.

As the Cowboys have gotten better throwing the ball of late, the Colts have found a nice little running game of their own to complement a stellar passing attack. With Joseph Addai now grasping the system after putting nine games under his rookie belt, they've averaged 102 yards per game on the ground over the last four games.

If you want to look at numbers, here they are: The Dallas team defense is ranked No. 3 overall (ninth versus the pass, fourth versus the run). Indianapolis is ranked 16th overall (second versus the pass, 32nd versus the run).

Yep, there it is -- the Colts' glaring deficiency at stopping opposing backs. It's no secret the Cowboys will run the ball plenty on Sunday. It's what Bill Parcells likes to do every week. And everyone knows it. Of course, that includes Indy's coaching staff, which could stack the box to stop the run, force Romo to the air and cause the guy with three starts worth of experience into making multiple turnovers. Hey, it worked against New England, didn't it? The Colts' biggest defensive difference maker, Bob Sanders, will play this week and help make that happen.

And if they are unsuccessful at stopping the Cowboys' passing game, it would turn into an aerial shootout. We all know how that would turn out.

Though the game will pit the two top-rated quarterbacks in the league against each other, Manning will school the younger Romo like he did his little brother in Week 1.

Welcome to the big-boy league, Mr. Jessica Simpson. Watch the QB guru and learn.

Final Score: Colts 27, Cowboys 23. Bob Sanders intercepts Romo twice.

If there is a game we brought T.O. to Dallas for, its gotta be this one. I wouldn't mind seeing him go for a 150+ and 2 TDs.

Except that Bob Sanders is questionable, did not practice Friday, and is all but guaranteed not to play on Sunday.

Bob Sanders intercepts Romo twice

They forgot to add "... doubling his career total for interceptions."

Has anyone who makes so few plays ever been so highly rated? Three years into his career, Sanders (two career interceptions, no sacks, one forced fumble) is still FAR short of the number of big plays that Roy made just in his rookie season (five INTs, two sacks, three forced fumbles).

Hmmmm...

So if I followed this guy's thinking, its that Dallas and New England have reasonably similar make-ups on offense. And NE turned it over and so Dallas will too.

I certainly agree Romo is no Tom Brady but I'm not gonna buy just yet that Indy's simple defensive solution is to go 8 in the box to stop our run and then let Romo make mistakes to hand them the game.

Double cover TO since Glenn is out or hobbled? Ok, makes sense. But are Witten, Crayton, and possibly Glenn able to make them pay with Tony throwing the ball? Well, last week was a pretty good tune-up for that IMO. So we'll see.

I find it interesting that this guy's theory though is built predominantly on how the Colts will stop the Boys. I guess that makes sense given no one figures we'll be able to ultimately stop their O.

I'll agree that our O cannot turn it over and expect to win this game. We need to limit Peyton's opportunities, not multiply them. But if we can get the same "turnover-free "Romo of the last 11 quarters, which admittedly is no certainty with a QB of his inexperience, then yeah I think we can be in this game. We shall see.

I sure hope this game has the attention of our entire team morseo than the Giants game did. We'll have to play really smart, and really physical, but I'd also like to see some extra umph in our emotion on Sunday. Just enough to put the Colts on their heels for a portion of this game.

There are a lot of different ways to win a football game but I have to believe that if we can pull off a win this weekend it will be even harder for Parcells to keep pointing out Tony's weaknesses because it would be a big time win.

(We do? I wish I could see the future...)

(That is gonna be a problem, because Romo has already been schooled/coached...by a football coach)

Sanders' return ignites Colts' defense

If you saw the play where the Indianapolis Colts ' Bob Sanders hurled his body over his own defensive line to pound shifty running back Laurence Maroney into the turf last weekend in New England, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Just when it looked like the Patriots' rookie was about to shoot through a hole for a nice gain, Sanders went vertical and met him shoulder high, looking more like a human missile or comic book superhero than a mild-mannered guy from northern Pennsylvania.

The free safety's return from injury couldn't have come at a more perfect time for Indianapolis this past Sunday night as the team took on its conference nemesis. With two starting tackles out once again (Corey Simon and Montae Reagor) and fellow safety Mike Doss recently going on injured reserve, the Colts were obviously vulnerable going against Tom Brady and the Pats.

But 11 tackles and an interception later, Sanders stood out as the spark that lit a fire under the Colts' defense.

Stellar play is not new to the third-year pro out of the University of Iowa. Last December he had a career-best 20 tackles (12 solo) versus San Diego. He then became the club's first defensive back to earn Pro Bowl honors since Jerry Logan and Rick Volk in 1971. Sanders finished the season with 118 tackles (71 solo), four passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception.

Of course, Sanders' hard-hitting style of play doesn't come without a downside. Of the 41 regular-season games he's been on the Colts' roster, he has been listed as questionable, doubtful or out 22 times on Indy's injury report.

Should he stay healthy the rest of the 2006 campaign, Bob Sanders will single-handedly raise the Colts' defensive unit from nothing special to above average. He is that good.

As much as I dislike clichés, Sanders is a bona fide difference maker on the football field. And the Colts are no doubt happy to have him back.

Hmmmmm...

The Swami predicted a 27-21 Colts win.

If Dallas wants this bad enough....they will get it.

Yeah I was thinking that earlier today.... If there was ever a game that TO could start him TERROR(offensive terror) it would be against the GREAT COLTS... then carry it on throughout the remainder of the season

Berman is a huge man with a large appetite. He likes to eat alot of food, alot of the time. It allows his fat face to jiggle when he's doing moronic moans and screams when doing highlights. That said, he's overweight as well.

I'm sorry... What was this thread about?

The man is due... I seriously wouldn't doubt seeing him taking a screen to the house against the Colts suspect secondary. A very poor tackling team, and we all know how aggressive T.O. is after the catch. JJ and MBIII are going to set up play action for the best receiving core in the game (owens, glenn, crayton, hurd, witten, etc.) and essentially challenge the Colts to a shootout. Which works in our favor, our D is young and very deep especially up front. If we play BP style football, and play a responsible cover 2 against Peyton we can force him to check down to Clark and his HB. We can def do this, as long as we remain disciplined.

I will put my money on Barber to truck Bobby Sanders if they should ever meet in the hole!
Ask Seattle 230 LBS. SS Michael Boulware about meeting Barber in the hole, he was crushed when they went helmet to helmet.
