I dont get one thing, everybody says owens has created so many controversies this year from the hamstring injury, the broken hand, the overdose, the spitting, and im probably missing something else BUT the only thing i really see that could be controversial and just because it was with one of the biggest trash talkers in the NFL in DeAngelo Hall, i really dont think much about it...he really hasnt done anything wrong or messed up.

Hamstring Injury - Happens to all athletes of every sport, Controversy? Really dont think so.

Broken Finger? - He has surgery, he didnt miss a game, really hasnt made any excuses for it...i dont see it as controversy...again happens to anyone.

Overdose...questionable? maybe but he never came out and said he tried to commit suicide, i REALLY REALLY doubt he did it on purpose, i know he loves himself but he wouldnt risk his life...the police department said it...not owens...so to me thats not controversial because he really didnt do anything intentionally.

The spitting is the only real thing i could see actually being controversial, so i dont get all this non sense they try to stick on him and people even in this forum say he should be cut...i dont see why...hes performed for us game in and out since hes been more involved with some drops but hes done that his whole career, he hasnt got into any fights with anybody, him and parcells seem to stay out of each others way...his only blow up was with bledsoe against the Eagles and i woulda clocked bledsoe myself for his mistakes...for a pro to make those passes was embarassing.

I really hope hed change his name and intials so maybe people would juss drop their cases against him... i really feel for the guy...he just wants to WIN and as fans you gotta respect that.

Poor Terrell Owens, he's so misunderstood. Just a nice guy trying to put food on his family's table.

:D At the same time, he's not out getting arrested like half the Bengals' roster. Team play has been far better because of Owens, not worse.

Well in fairness TO did give an interview to Irvin where he said he didn't trust his teammates cause there's a snitch on the team, etc. That could cause a contraversy cause some players might be real upset but I'm thinking Parcells has pretty much innoculated this team against any TO problem by saying in effect "that's just TO" so less credence given to it. Of course this only works so long as TO doesn't start calling out particular players, etc. And really beyond above TO interview with Irvin, all problems have been media's overreaction to every single thing TO has done. WR Stephen Smith missed lot more playing time then TO yet we barely heard much about that. Enough said.

Same thing goes with this spitting incident. I don't like it at all but talk of a suspension is ridiculous. No other player has received anything more then fine of $16,000 in playoffs in 06 so no way could they justify a suspension and frankly if NFL tried that TO should sue them charging discrimination--not because of color but because he high profile athlete.

Nuthing has really happened in Dallas. T.O has done nuthing!! to cause controversy. the only thing is the spitting' incident. compare this to all the Bengals getting Arrested!..the Manning on the Bears thing, now the Tank Johnson thing. Bigger things occur on other teams and no big attention. But T.O has a broken finger, and whoaaa..hes faking an injury. pathetic.

You know what... you document all that he has done and NOTHING really stands out as intolerable... even the spitting... while I dont condone it.... WORSE things have been going in football since its creation.... pile driving players into the ground, stepping on their face with no helmet, closelining players, hitting hard from behind etc.. etc... etc...

For some it's not all about contraversy. It's about being a team player. Putting the team first. I'm a younger guy but with an old school, team first attitude, and Owens represents no part of that. Take his celebration penalty for sleeping on the ball crap. That was a I don't care if we get a penalty for this or not I'm gonna do this to get my ESPN time. And we know he knew that would be flagged, he did it anyway. The spitting on someone is another one. He got fined, but had the ref caught it we would have gotten penalized for that too, I'm pretty sure. Don't get me wrong I love the TDs, I don't even mind the TD celebrations if they're within league rules, and I love his production. But at some point some people just get sick of his me first attitude even if it is at the cost of the team. I'm one of those. I think the guy truly has something mentally wrong with him. Whether it is a chemical imbalance or something he's just not right in the head. Never mind this is just his first year. No need worrying about what the next few years will be like if we keep him. I mean his first year in Philly wasn't even like this and he went ape crap his second. Let's just look forward to that. Give me another Terry Glenn. Little to no drops, speed, great routes, incredible production, TDs, and he does it all so quietly. That is my kind of reciever. And that is why I don't want to see this guy disgracing the blue and silver again next year. Unless that is the 07 SB that is. ;)

Thank gawd that BP is our coach. These incidents would have completely derailed the Cowboys season if BP was not our coach.

BP should get coach of the year consideration for putting up with this crap.

Come springtime, TO will be cut...book it.

Thats because lesser coaches let it derail season.
BP knows that these are all periferal things and they dont affect the player come Sunday. Which is all Bill wants.

If Bill had a choice between a

"sunday big time player that yaps during the week but shows on sunday"

OR

"a model citizen player that does just enough"

I believe Bill would take the former every time... history has proven that... Brian Cox, Key, etc...

Oh I completely agree. Add Lawrence Taylor to that list of controversial players he has coached.

However, there seems to be a difference between the players you mention and our very own TO. A part of me thinks that Parcells thinks all of this is funny, and another part thinks that he is sick of it all.

Of course, he will never let it impact the rest of the team. He is not Andy Reid or Steve Marriucci.

Has any other Cowboy player actually admitted that TO is causing them to be distracted from the game?
