How awesome would Desmond King be at S on our D?

Those ball skills with that physicality....would bring a much needed playmaker to our secondary without being a liability in run support. If he was 6'1 210 instead of 5'11 200 he'd be an easy 1st round pick imo. He plays plays much bigger on the field and I would love to see him play the Church role close to the LOS and watch him be a turnover machine.
If available at 60 do you take him at start him at safety day 1?

Some think King may even be there in the 3rd.
You'd have to grab him.

The question probably starts coming up near our 2nd though. Going to be a lot of good ones still on the board then though.

Was he one of our visits?

I really like the player but his measurable(s) are a concern.

Church was 6-2, 222 when drafted.

I don't know if D. King can hold up playing the Church role.

His lack of length is a concern in terms of covering TEs which ideally you would like the box safety to have the ability to cover TEs.

I wonder if his best position a would be zone CB. He reminds me of Rhonde Barber.

I would not want to bet against him, but the size is a concern as a box Safety and the speed is a concern at CB or deep safety.

We have Byron to shut down the other teams TE's

And I really don't worry about him holding up at SS, he plays nasty and usually delivers a hit before he gets hit. He can probably easily bulk up to 210 not having to worry about chacing WR's full time anymore too.

It was very scheme limiting to force Jones down into coverage on TEs so often. At least they could switch off Jones with King deep which was a big problem with Church.

If Jaylon is healthy they could use him to cover TEs. If 100% Jaylon might be better than Jones at covering TEs like Gronk.

King is just one of those players that seems destined to succeed even if his measurable(s) are not ideal. He has great football instincts and moxie.

I feel that way about Kazee. Not big enough, not fast enough, but excellent ball skills and tackler. Just a football player. Like King, may be a worthwhile project at safety, but may be better suited as a zone CB due to less than ideal size for the safety position.

I will take Ronde 2.0.......he was a freakin stud.

Jarrad Davis reminds me of a Derrick Brooks type LB.....so Davis and King give us the Brookes and Barber look.

We were forced to alter our defense because of church
We really want two hybrid fs/ss players
Until Jaylen can cover TEs, Jones will cover the best ones

He is also a better return man than Lucky.

Any indication we even like him AND would want to move him to S?

It also made the defense predictable. If Heath starts the season at SS I think he'll be better in coverage than Church including coverage on TEs. They lose a little in run defense because Church was basically a small LB, but in the modern NFL I'll take better pass defense at the expense of run defense.
