How bad are our Special Teams?

Seriously, they lost us the Arizona game by giving up a TD on a kickoff then having a punt blocked to win the game. They lost the Steeler game because of the field postion and giving up a easy 3 points in the 4th quarter. Our blocking is bad all around and Pacman hasn't been the savior at PR we've all been waiting for. I really hope we don't lose the Philly game because of our ST but I could see it happening.

Special Teams is an important aspect of the game, but when our offense and defense play well, the ST isn't as big a factor. It's when the games are close that the ST weaknesses come back to haunt us. The ST have been decent on rare occasions, but we have yet to show up in all 3 phases of the game. If we show up in at least 2 phases against Philly, we wil have more than a good chance to win.

Bruce Read should have been fired mid-season last year when it was clear that he completely sucked as a STs coach. Why we brought him back again this season is beyond all logic.

Our STs units have stunk since Joe Avezzano was released. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

I agree it's just that our last few games have been close and if our ST would have shown up at all we could've won those games.

He didn't go buck wild on us in last year's matchup, but McBriar kicked away from him most of the time.

The whole coaching staff sucked the last time Avezzano was the ST coach.

Exactly. It's been Danielle (sp) Manning that has been the big threat this year.
