How bad is the NFC that the Championship Game will have a 9-6-1 Eagles team and a 9-7 Cards team. When was the last time something like this happened? This is what kills me about the Cowboys chances this year; and last year as well.

Why did it kill you?

We got mopped by the Eagles, and the Cardinals beat us up, literally.

Shouldn't bother you. Two teams that mopped the 'Boys up pretty good are goin' pretty far in the Playoffs. Last year, a wildcard team from the NFC won the Superbowl.

Why is it surprising that another wildcard team is playing for the NFC Championship?

I don't think the NFC is weak I think you have two teams with good talent who are playing good football.

I don't think you can say the Cards were hot entering the playoffs but they are playing well since the playoffs have started.

A gaggle of impostors and counterfeits......

This is what all you "parity", salary-cap, free agency folks wanted, and now you got it. It's been going on for over a decade now, but this crap is the ultimate "roosters coming home to roost".

The "quality" teams horse has left the barn a long time ago.

Call it sour grapes, jealous or bitter all you want, but THIS is the state of the game. Even last year, nobody, and I mean NOBODY had the stinky Giants on their radar screen to make the playoffs. All the way up to Thanksgiving!! And I NEVER gave credence or cred to their "run" in the playoffs last year.

Carolina provided the only thing in the NFC that would've kept it sane, and they get dusted by the joke of the NFL, Arizona.

Now, one of these two mediocre laughing stocks is going to the SB.

This is what you get when nobody has any continuity. It's a crap-shoot every year, depending upon who "jells" at the right time, usually at seasons end. Used to be that teams were actually built, stayed together, remained good for a long time, and then gradually fell back to the middle of the pack. Now, we get the idiot Falcons going 3-13 one year, make the playoffs the year after that, and next year will go back to 5-11. Miami? The Jets? Remember when New Orleans was supposed to be the next "America's Team"?? After last year, they gave Cleveland three MNF games and look what happened. San Diego this year? And don't even get me started on Dallas!!!!

Some people get a warm & fuzzy feeling inside watching this baloney. Makes 'em feel all "fair" and "even" and "everyone has a shot". If that's what you like, then you're having the time of your life. You're also getting an inferior product of mediocrity, where the "team that doesn't want to lose the most" is your darling team de jour. Particularly in the NFC. In the AFC, the Patriots, Colts and Steelers have been holding down a reasonable fort. Those three teams are providing some semblance of consistency akin to the days when teams were respectable for a decade at a time.

The NFC? A complete and utter joke. Be prepared for the coming years where YOUR NFC is represented by such iconic teams as the Lions, Saints, Seattle and Falcons. Because anything can happen in this era of "parity".

And, IMO, the product SUCKS!!!!!

Why is having a "hot" 9-7 or 9-6-1 team compete for the Super Bowl a bad thing?

I think part of the problem with these questions is perception. We as Cowboys fans are considered one of the dominant franchises. We think that a dominant team (as reflected by tradition and record) should win.

But that's not always the case. And so what if it's not?

Every team has to play 16 games in the regular season.

Every team has to win more than they lose to have a shot for the playoffs.

There are six playoff positions in each conference.

If you get in the playoffs, you have a chance to go to the Super Bowl whether you're 16-0, 14-2, 13-3 or 8-8 and 9-7.

When the playoffs start, it's a new season.

I can't complain about the system. It is what it is.

The Cowboys didn't meet the criteria to be the playoffs. They're out. It's over with until next season.

Why keep obsessing over what didn't occur?

It's never happened. This is the first time that two teams met in the NFC Championship game where neither team had double digit wins. I'm surprised about Arizona beating Carolina, but the Eagles victory over the Giants was pretty easy to see coming.

If you have looked at ratings, or business numbers of the NFL over the past few decades, parity and the salary cap are making the NFL the most dominating sport in all of America.

Remember when division foes couldn't play until the championship game, I kind of miss that. That said, these two teams are playing hard nosed football right now, and it proves that in football every game is a battle. The NFC Championship game should be a pretty impressive game. Same with the AFC.

The Cardinals ending out at 9-7 would not have happened if they didn't wrap up their division early. Besides, they are playing good football when it matters and they are earning their spot in the Super Bowl, especially with a win next weekend.

You need to seriously shut your mouth and suck it up that Dallas didn't make it this year. They didn't play when it mattered and yes it makes me angry, but they didn't deserve to make it one bit.

Every team in the NFL has a shot at the Super Bowl and these teams are playing well when it MATTERS. It's looking more like the Boys are the joke of the NFL and not the Cardinals.

I have to agree with you as well. It's coming down to the regular season not meaning as much. As much as I hate the college system without playoffs, at least the regular system DOES mean something and you get great football throughout the season, not a "as long as we win 9-10 games we can take some games off" mentality.

I sorely miss the dominating teams of the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Say what you want, but the "mediocre" other teams played them very hard as well. Some of the teams today could actually lose to a high school football team I bet.

Ah.................I don't need to "seriously shut my mouth", and I WON'T shut my mouth. I express my opinion any time I damn please.

It's gotten so bad nowadays that we can't even rely upon the "cursed" teams to stink up the joint year in and year out!!! Serious and loyal fans of THE GAME have come to depend upon the Fartinals to suck like clockwork. True, even a broken clock is right once a day (or twice depending upon your interpretation), but not the Cardinals.

Hell, even Seattle stunk up a SB recently. Don't even get me going on Tampa Bay winning one.
And don't embrASS yourself again by using the words "Cowboys" and "Cardinals" in the same breath! I don't care what my Cowboys have or haven't done the last decade or so. The Cardinals should NEVER WIN A SB, just to keep order and balance in the Universe. And even if they ever do, it'll be another 50 years before they get another home playoff game.

I'm hoping my arse off for Pittsburgh to win it all. Then, in the annuls of NFL Champions, there won't be a pimple on the butt of the list by saying something like "Cardinals, SB Winner", or "Eagles, SB Winner". There would be something terribly wrong with a listing of champions with one of those loser teams on it......................

I can understand you being upset with league parity, but don't be silly. No high school football team would ever beat even the worst NFL team.

This is exactly what the league wanted and the Commissioner wouldn't change a darn thing even if he could. FWIW, I like it this way too.

By this logic, the poor should stay poor, the rich should stay rich. I'd use other comparisons, but there'd be a full scale war up in cheer. ;)

Nor could a college team. Even the 0-16 Lions would absolutely mop the floor with Florida or USC if they played. It would literally be men against boys.

I doubt the folks in New England agree with that sentiment.
