Its sadly amazing how much luster is off the star these days.

Our offensive coordinator whose is paid 3 million per year and promised to be our next head coach wants out of this job so badly that he has been on an interviewing rampage. I cant say i blame him.
But this may really confirms what many of us fear about the state of our team.
The Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys used to mean so much.
What is really going on inside of our team?
This is not another anti-TO thread. So please TO supporters there is no need to come out on the defensive.
Now i realize that if people want to get promotions and i dont blame garrett for feeling this way.

BUT Garrett was offered jobs last year and he turned them down.
What has changed? Has Jerry told him he isnt the next Head Coach?
Has he given up on trying to make it work with this group?
Has he given up on Jerry and decided he doesnt want to be his puppet coach anymore?

Things are different now. And its not 100% because we were 9-7.
Our team has a serious disconnect from owner down.
It seems like we dont have a real direction or plan.
If Jerry doesnt want Garrett around then fire him.
If you do then promote him.
But what you dont want around is a coach that is only here because no one else would hire him. Especially with the issues and lack of direction with this group.

I think Garrett knows that if he returns and has another repeat of what happended this year, he can forget about being a HC here or anywhere.

Garrett is therefore going to strike while he still has a little cred left, apparently Garrett doesnt think he can turn the O around next year for some reason.

Or it could be Jerry said, "you freaking suck Jason, you are never going to coach here buddy".

Either way doesnt really matter, Garrett is going to the Rams.

If he fires him, he owes him $3 mil per year ... if he leaves he doesn;t owe him anything.

Garrett has to strike while the iron is still hot. Who knows what will happen in 2010?

Plus....it's a pretty decent job, in St. Louis, IMO.

He's got a good QB in Bulger....don't laugh...this guy is as accurate as Aikman was....that's what his offense entails.

He's got a great back, when freakin healthy!

He's got the young speedster Avery.

And he will have the #2 overall pick.

It's a pretty good job IMO.

Plus much like Wade....he's lost our offense.....I think there is NO WAY they will believe anything he says.

.

I think it's a combination of what you just wrote, and the fact that the pressure in Dallas is overwhelming. Anything short of a superbowl is a failure with the players we have. Garrett can't afford to learn on the fly with the Cowboys. In St. Louis or Detroit, the expectations are much lower and there is only one direction to go.....up.

The short answer:

Kosier went down, lost Romo next, Brad Johnson lied, Garrett exposed.

I agree Jason is taking the opportunity to get a HCing job now while he knows he can. Another year like last year would have tarnished him perhaps for good. He has to get out of Dallas to be sure. Staying is a gamble.

My worry is we are back to the preParcells years for certain. Ellis and Tank complained??? Jerry you just don't learn. Get a subordinate to spy for you. An open door policy to the top is a bad idea. BAD.

This sucks.

He lied that he can still play.

Gotcha. But wait, Techmo said he could play still. Convinced Jerry of it. Sorry, but Garrett was exposed this season for what he has been his whole career. A behind the curtains type of guy that has prospered on the heels of other's abilities.

The minute Sparano left, so did Garret's "genius".

My question is, if Jerry is a great GM...and Garrett a great young offensive mind...then why isn’t he the HC of the Dallas Cowboys?

Why do so many people fail to understand coaching interviews in the NFL? He was offered Jobs and turned them down last year. What do you think would happen if he declined interviews this year, or turns down another offer?

Hint- if he did NFL owners would not call him next year.

Why do High SChool players continue o0n campus tours even after giving a verbal committ to a school? Must mean they dont actually want to go to the school the committed to!!

Jerry doesn't want to fire Wade. Wade is a good guy. He's also a defensive genius. If they would do as he asks and we can get a 2 tech NT and a safety to perform we will be an excellent to dominant defense.

The problem I see is Jerry likes to plug holes and doesn't want a strong HC that takes away his public entertainment and face. That's difficult for a HC. Jerry just takes away too much face esp with the open door policy. I've always been afraid it wouldn't work but hoped it could and I was wrong.

Right.

And why do so many people think they know what Garrett is thinking about leaving, or what Jerry thinks. I get tired head reading all this, so most of it I skip over.

A HC position in the NFL is an elite job, so why wouldn't JG want to interview. It's not because he wants out, or thinks if he has a "down" year his chance is over. If he stays, he will be interviewed next year also, regardless of what happens.
