I'd like to think this isn't a must win game. One could argue each week is a must win.

Sitting at 2-1 I'd argue it isn't except for the upcoming schedule.

How nice to even expect to win with a backup QB who we now have confidence in and building momentum with.

3-1 will build more momentum and confidence heading home for what should be our toughest opponent this year.

It's huge. Cincy, GB and Philly are going to be very tough. So if they lose to SF, they could be sitting at 2-5 before we know it.
One week at a time of course but that's definitely the concern if we lose this one. A win Sunday guarantees .500 heading into the bye.

3-1 then we can begin feeling like 4-2 is a possibility .How awesome would that be without Romo.

If we can somehow come out of the Cleveland game with a .500 record (4-4), I think we should be in good shape.

I'd obviously prefer 5-3 or 6-2, but not sure that's possible considering the teams we're playing.

So yeah, we need to beat SF. And Cleveland. And if we can win just one game against the Pack, Bengals, or Eagles, we'll be in good shape at 5-3.

That's a reasonable expectation.

Everyone will have their own opinions regarding any 'must win' talk, but if we think that this is a good team, this - like Chicago - is a game they should win. San Francisco is not a good team, nor are they one with any playoff aspirations. If you can't beat a team like that, you have no right to have playoff aspirations either.

It's certainly critical, and it will come down to how well the Cowboys defend Carlos Hyde. I'm afraid he'll have a field day.

Of course they're all important because you don't know how the future will play out. I guess we could lose to SF and then end up beating Green Bay instead of vice versa.
Having said that....

The most important games in order are:
  1. NFC East games
  2. NFC games vs teams vying for the playoffs (for tie-breakers)
  3. NFC teams in general
  4. AFC teams

So the 49ers game is probably about the same as the Bears game was, but less than the Giants or Commanders...or the Packers and Vikings later.

Every game will be a tough game regardless. But yes, if we can be 4-2 going into the bye week. That will be great. And actually about where many of us felt we would have been anyway.

The team is getting better. The offense finding it's way. Zeke coming along very nicely now. Just need Dez in there and healthy. OL is getting it in gear.
The defense may be gelling a bit, but still needs a lot of work to be consistent and will be better after the SF game when DLaw returns.

Get this important win at SF.
Cincinnati has it's own issues. But the will be getting a few key players back, just in time to play us, go figure. But they look beatable.
GB, they haven't looked all that unbeatable either. I will not, as of today write that one off as a loss.

Eagles at home, this looks to be a showdown. But they have played 2 weak teams, and a Steelers team that may not be as good as they are supposed to be. This game is a long ways off. I will temper the fear that most have. But they are thinknig the same of us most likely. Well, about our offense and not defense.

at Browns, well, a game we should win.
Steelers, will be a tough game regardless.
Ravens, they really haven't beat anyone yet either. Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville. Is anyone fearing them?

This is doable as of looking at it today, to be around 7-3, 6-4 going into the T-Day game with the Commanders, then on to Minnesota.
With some good luck, we can be 7-3, and I will take that.

It's a hugely important game.

The schedule gets tougher going forward, especially with Philly now looking as good as they have. They also are going to be without Bryant for a stretch it appears.

The 49ers are not a good team and these are the types of wins you need to offset what will be inevitably losses that will come as the competition heats up.

I feel like it's a pretty big, and needed game, simply because of the next three after it. Those are all going to be very tough ball games.

IMO there are no giveaway games every game has to be played as though its a playoff game. It is all about the mentality !

You can never let a losing mentality creep in EVER

Like any game it is important. Being a conference game it means a lot since at the end of the year if you are fighting for a Wild Card spot these conference games can mean the difference of making it or missing post season.
