I disagree. Showers would be as bad or worse. At least he knows the system, I guess.

I'm fine with him being as bad. He at least is mobile. If I'm gonna stink I'd rather stink with Showers then with a 36 year old guy who is just as bad.

You guys said Dak wasn't a NFL qb as well. You guys have no idea how bad or good Showers is.

Shower's is nothing more than Practice squad material, Dallas will have to go get a veteran via a trade or cuts

Here's the problem with that: if the coaching staff is smart, they're going to tailor the offense to Dak's skill set. That means lots of read option and play action. Any backup you bring in will have to be able to run that type of offense.

Granted he got the raw end of the deal playing with scrubs but that's what he's earned in practice. He can only be judged by what we've seen and he hasn't looked good. We've seen nothing that would make the team want to go with him as the backup.

Well I can agree with that but I thought Kellen could at least move the ball I'd rather have him (albeit barely) but obviously that's not an option. I still believe in a proven backup who gives you a chance to win games, I don't think you can win games with Showers with out defense barring a fluke. Austin Davis is a gamer and could be cheap, I give us a puncher's chance against a lot of teams with him.

The problem is we suck at evaluating QB's. We got lucky with Dak and could have blown that.

Can you evem imagine, Kellen goes down, Dak isn't any good, and then Romo's injury ?? Wow!

I'm not saying he can't play in the league but from what we've seen of him in preseason he certainly isn't ready to take on a backup role would you not agree? The last thing we need is for Showers to end up as our starting QB this season.

How good are you suppose to look with the backups though?

Dak has looked good with backups. Had Showers performed better in camp he would have gotten opportunities with better players. Dak earned his right to play with some of our starters and he's also performed well with our backups.

None but it doesn't matter to me. If Dak comes out and folds under the lights, we will get a nice draft pick. I would rather Dallas not go get another scrub-has been QB. It will probably be Dak or bust until if/when Romo comes back.

The only backups I'd take over Showers at this point are Mark Sanchez or Michael Vick. The other backups mentioned in another thread are total garbage. I think Vick and Sachez can drive the bus and get the team into audibles, but I don't see Sanchez getting cut.

Vick behind Dak would work for me.

Dak and Showers have one thing in common...they both did a great job protecting the ball as youngsters.

Now, he's a question. What if Dak doesn't overcome the scouting reports? I hope he does, but what if the league figures him out and he can't overcome it?

I'll let the staff worry about the backup for Dak. Both Showers and Dak will have their work cut out for them if they stick with them both. It'll present a serious challenge for whomever takes on the job of filling in for Romo. It's also a challenge for the staff to make the needed adjustments as well.
