Boy- does Seattle look like a juggernaut right now, or what?

So the defensive points per game stat is how many points they have scored on defense. Not the points allowed.

In scoring defense the Cowboys are 22nd which is roughly the same as their defensive passer rating. I was confused for a second there.

This presentation would be far more useful if the teams were re-ranked by each stat, IMO. I thought for a second there that Seattle was #1 (and Cowboys #11) in every category.

How does it change the usefulness of the stats posted? I posted the format of the presentation at the top of the page, I figured everyone would see it and understand. The ranking is the number in parentheses stat line, sorry for the confusion.

Also for clarification, the numbers on the left hand side mean NOTHING, they're ordering the teams. Sorry for the confusion!

That's their average rank taken from 6 of the 7 categories (throwing out penalties). The missing piece (if you're going to include red zone offense, that is) is red zone defense, which would probably result in the Cowboys and Chiefs switching places. The average of those 7 stats would make for an interesting power ranking.

They do and their QB could end up being the league's MVP.

With almost identical stats to that of a certain America's Team QB.

Let's give Russell our defense and offensive line and see how he does.

Just sayin'.

No, it's points allowed by the defense. I don't think points scored by the other teams defense are included.

I think Seattle is probably the best team in the NFL but not "head and shoulders" better than everyone else. They can, and have, been beat.

Exactly! They look great some games and average in others. There are no teams that are head-and-shoulders above all other teams. Seattle is a top tier team, but it really depends who they are playing and where they are playing. They are 2.5 point underdogs today against a team they slaughtered earlier this year though I do expect them to win that game.
