How did cricket get his nickname

Maybe i just missed it but i was wondering who started calling him cricket and why? Thanks.

dared to eat a cricket because teammates didn't think he would and he did. it wasn't a lil one it was "nice and juicy" i remember hearing

If I remember correctly Anderson bet Stanback he could throw an apple core in to a trash can across the room and when he missed Stanback told him if he ate a cricket he didn't owe him anything.

I still like the story of him running down field flapping his arms and clucking like a chicken on kickoff coverage while he was at UConn. I'd love to see video of that. :laugh2:

I like the guy. I know a lot of people aren't high on him but I'm hoping he really has a very good year, stays healthy, and proves those who doubt him very wrong.

That's about what I remember also. He missed the shot, which may have been an apple core, or an empty bottle of water. The bet was for $200 or somewhere around that. But he chose to eat the cricket instead of paying the money.
