I'm not flaming or trolling. You can ask the Mods. I'm not one of those jerks.

I just really am curious how you guys feel.

Its this somebody you want long term? Only for a few years? what does this mean for some of your younger players who have only known one system in the NFL?

If you feel its good, stand up and say it. Then tell me WHY its good.

Same if you feel its not.

Honestly, after listening to Galloway (Who I think is hilarious and awesome) call in to a local D.C. show yesterday. I thought it was Norv for sure. So, this is alittle shocking. But, not in a Ron Rivera, Mike Singletary way.

I think after a chunk of a season, and everybody learns the new system. Your D will be nasty.

What does this mean for Owens? Bledsoe? etc?

Anyways, congrats on getting this taken care of. I'm sure its a relief for a lot of you diehard fans.

Many did NOT want Norv...some did.

I don't think too many were really drooling or super stoked over any of the candidates.

Some may have really liked Rivera or Singletary but I think for the most part many would rather have had better candidates.

Personally I wanted Wade or Rivera overall.

I think Wade will help our Defense the most and that was what has struggled down the stretch for us. I think we could be ok on offense if our defense did not put us in holes down the stretch.

So...For me, with what was available I wanted Wade or Rivera.

With Rivera you did not know how the defense would turn out. 3-4 or 4-3 and it would take some time to make the adjustments. We KNOW Wade will work with the 3-4.

So as far as the available candidates I got one of the two I wanted and was very happy we did not end up with Norv or Gary Gibbs as HC.

I'm happy with the choice. Very happy. He'll bring a lot more knowledge about defense in general (not to mention the 3-4 specifically) then Zimmer (understatement).

Owens is a cowboy. He'll be a cowboy next season too.

Bledsoe wasn't gonna be here regardless. Jerry Jones has already said as much.

As far as long term/short term, I don't really care. If he does well, I want him to stay. If he doesn't do well, I want him gone. That goes for any coach.

As far as the system the players have been in, it's the same system. The only difference is Zimmer's system will seem more "Elementary" then Wade's system. Oh, and the terminology will likely be different as well.

Considering we lost a HOF coach, and we're replacing him with a guy that failed everywhere he coached, I'm not very happy. But I expected something like this.

I don't know why we just didn't bring back Campo.

I feel pretty great about it.

There wasn't an abundance of awesome candidates, but Wade was far and away the best of the group - for this team, and what this team needs. There was an article on here about how he keeps it simple on defense, puts the players in good spots, concentrates on stopping the run at all costs - all these things we need on defense.

The offense seems to be mostly handled by the current staff. I'm good with that.

He isn't Norv.

Bledsoe has no future here, his contract made sure of that. So in this discussion he's kind of irrelevant.

I think it's gonna be good.

7/10.... DIDN'T want Norv.... RR was my preference - prefer the 4-3 to the
3-4..... I one believes the hypes, JG was a steal....

This was a weak class to select a head coach from.... Tuna should have done one more season - then Jerry could have brought in Cowher

If it turns out that all we needed last year was to have our defense play better, scheme better THEN this was a good choice for HC. (During the season and in retrospect it would appear that was the case)

The offense will put up the same production or better.

This could get us over the hump.

So who is the DC here now? Certainly not Phillips as well.

I personally wanted a younger guy, a hungry guy. But I also wanted a man for the position. not a boy. I wanted someone who will keep Jones out of the kitchen while the meal is prepared and cooked.

We will see. Hopefully hes not a puppet for Jerry to coach from the box with.

i like it, i think we have a lot of really good peices and all we need is a coach that can put them together. we have a very good offense and with wade coming in we have a guy that knows how to play the 3-4 very well and should fix our defensive problems.

Uh...he didn't "fail" everywhere he coached. He's an outstanding DC. If you mean just as a HC, he didn't fail at that either, but I guess that depends upon what you're definition of failure is. If failure isn't winning a SB, then you'll be hard pressed to find successful coaches. He had a winning record for his time spent in Buffalo.

I would be really suprised if Phillips turns out to be a puppet. He doesn't have a history of being a puppet coach.

I'm fine with it. I believe the defense will be tremendous- it'll get burned some (but it did under Vanilla boy's too). Offensively, the team is fine. The OL is what needs work and hopefully they'll work on that. Rex Ryan was the person I wanted, but he never got an interview- after that I wanted Rivera, Garrett, or Phillips. I'm not overjoyed with the pick, but I am fine with it.

HO Hum I do not like retread Headcoaches that have 2 stints already as headcoach and failed at least Wade was slightly above average as a HeadCoach way better than Turner as a HC

I am all for giving guys a second chance but 3rd well lets say there is a reason why he was let go twice before. Now if he rebuilt teams into something then left ala Larry Brown (basketball example) well that is a different Those guys are a rare breed.

I prefer young up incoming Assistants myself

and hey - your HOF coach failed here.

so it looks like failure CAN happen to successful people, right? if that is true, then there's no reason why phillips can't be successful here if things work out right.

like it has to for ANYONE to win, or become an eventual HOF coach.

i'll never get the ones who's head was so far up bp's orifice that anything NOT bp is instant failure for us.

we won before bp. we sucked before bp. bp got us to be a little better than average. this was the best HOF credentials were going to do *this time around*. i'm glad bill helped us out but geez - i refuse to think we're going to suck simply because he's gone.

He's been an interim coach twice, well now three times, the very definition of a puppet coach.

I thought Wade Phillips was the best hire. Ron Rivera was a close second. Wade is a really good choice for a few reasons: Wade is a genious with a 3-4. Our problems last year were on defense. Hiring Wade will allow us to keep the 3-4, preventing another system change back to the 4-3. Wade is 60 and will likely only coach for another 3-5 years. This opens the door for Jason Garrett to learn under Phillips and then take over after he retires. Phillips can also mentor a DC (probably Bowles) to take over the defense when he retires.

Im okay with the choice.

The only things I want to know now, is who is going to handle the offense, how much control does Phillps have and what is his opinion of our defense, which will decide which way we go in the draft.

I hate when people use the term fail? Fail at what? Winning it all? Most coaches do? Winning Playoff games. Wade I don't believe ever has as a HC. But as a DC, he's won a ton. So? Maybe it the Offense he wasn't running then.

On the topic of Cowher. I think the Burgh still owns his rights for another season. No?

Yes on Cowher.

I think what many people hoped, I was one of them, that Bill would have came back for one more season and than the Cowboys would have made a run at bringing in Cowher.

However that was not in the cards I guess once bill retired.
