Fairly equal as of now.

Both suck and I don't see either winning a championship in the near future...

Cowboys/Stars

Hopefully both get it turned around.

I love the Cowboys, St Louis Cardinals, and Illinois Fighting Illini all equally. Cardinals are by far and away the best ran of all of them and top 5 ran organizations in sports period. Doesn't mean i like them more but wish Dallas was ran in the same fashion. Bill DeWitt is a genius as an owner.

Good man though 'tic are out miles in front for me.

Spent far more time and money than I care to think about on Glasgow Celtic.

Dallas Cowboys trail Celtic in importance to me but are the only other team that I genuinely support.

Teams that I like to see do well but I'm not really fussed if they don't include.
Partick Thistle
Wrexham
Werder Bremen
Olympique de Marseille
Galatasaray (all soccer)
Cleveland Browns
Detroit Lions
Kings XI Punjab (cricket)
Glasgow Warriors (Rugby)

Oh and when it comes to international sport I'm a firm supporter of A.B.E. (anyone but England)

I've been following the Jacksonville Jaguars for the better part of 1.5-2 years because my wife is from the area and there is a better than zero chance they might end up being my "hometown" team in the not to distant future. It's a good contrast with the Cowboys. Kahn is a very different owner than most every other owner in the NFL because he comes from a mathematics and engineering background, while generally every other owner inherited the team or, like Jerry, comes from a sales or marketing background. He's implementing a very analytical and technology based organizational structure and he's brought over his son, who quit a high paying consulting job, to personally oversee their analytic department. It's going to be an interesting experiment. I've enjoyed getting in on an the ground level on an organization that's rebuilding the entire organizational philosophy from the ownership down, not unlike the Cowboys of 1989.

Aside from that, I love that nobody follows or cares about the Jaguars, and therefore it's completely devoid of the hyperbole that plagues everything that surrounds the Cowboys. Anyone who has watched Jaguar games and their offensive line could only laugh at the hand-wringing and exaggeration that goes on about the Cowboys offensive line, but among Jaguar fans it's just generally agreed that Guy Whimper is simply an awful offensive tackle that needs to be upgraded. Hes not "OMGZ teh wurst offensive tacklez in teh in historieez of teh NFL and hez singul-handedly sinking teh entire franchize and teh Blaine Gabbert iz teh lucky to be alivez!!!!" evaluations that we get with the Cowboys .

You might need to accelerate your move if you want to watch Jacksonville as the home team. ;)

Cowboys and Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL). Watch every game that includes either of those 2.

2 teams that are extremely loved or hated, both run by incompetent GM's (Toronto finally got a good one after the past 10 years), and hated even if neither have had much success in a long time.

Funny how that works out.

America's Team - Notre Dame - Phillies - Sixers - Flyers

* Been with the Cowboys ever since I saw Roger get a comeback win in the early 70's (lived in Syracuse as a child and was a Bills fan prior to that because of OJ and his "slashing" style :D)
* Notre Dame since birth - my parents met at ND (Mother lived there, Dad went to school there; they got married in the chapel - my mom's house was where the TD building is now - not joking)
* Phillies fan since early 70's when family moved to NE Penna and someone gave me a red Phillies cap which I wore everywhere
* Sixers and Flyers came along for the ride since I live in their territory

Even though I've been a Cowboys fan since '65, I also root for the Browns, since I live in NE Ohio. When they play every third season, my loyalty is with the 'Boys. Even though the Browns have been poor since their return, they have had better drafts the past 3-4 seasons than the Cowboys, & are poised to break out. The Cowboys barely beat them last year, & would have lost if not for the poor rookie play of Brandon Weeden.
The Browns have the brighter future because the owner delegates responsibility to football people. The Jones' are power hungry, & have no idea how to run a football franchise. Jerry has done two great things with this team: Hire Jimmy & build that palace. Neither he nor Stephen will have a SB team as long as they micro-manage every aspect of the team.

for me its all about the boys and the mavs

i watch the rangers occassionaly but only really follow during the play offs and because i grew up in the metroplex i have fond memories of pudge juan gonzales early years of a-rod texiera etc :)

other then that i follow the longhorns for college football, only pay attention to college basketball during march madness and after that i just follow players i like no matter what team they are on such as brady, lebron, kobe, durant, deron williams, kevin love, a young paul pierce (DA TRUTH) , andre igodula (SP?) larry fitz, shady mccoy to name a few

Cowboys (Went to the first game Emmitt actually played in, but have been a fan forever)
Mavs (Went to "Moody Madness")
Rangers (Started going to games in mid to late 70's, Saw Nolan Ryan pitch against Roger Clemens in the late 80's)
Stars-Used to go to games at Reunion all the time, even a couple during the 99 cup run. Hope this new GM they hired can turn things around.

That's widely speculated through fans and media, but it will be very difficult to do in reality. The Jaguars are contractually bound to their stadium lease through 2027. The only "out" clause in the contract is if the Jaguars can prove that through lack of attendance the franchise has been losing money for three straight years ... almost impossible for any NFL franchise to do, especially under this new CBA. Not to mention they would have to go through a process of book opening and auditing that would be unprecedented for an NFL Franchise to state that case ... something the fellow owners might not be too pleased with.

They will tell the current owner to sell .. or buy it themselves before they open an franshise books.

i don't know is this is realistic or not, but the owners wouldn't have to open their books if they just ate the lease.

It would all depend on whether they thought they could make more money in a more profitable metropolitan market area than they would lose by just paying off the lease.

I believe that Jacksonville has the smallest market in the NFL. If they could swing a franchise switch to Los Angeles, with a new stadium thrown in, that would justify a lot of payout for that lease. Of course, a new stadium in Los Angeles has been a pipe dream for years.

Great question - back on page one.

My favorite baseball team is the St.Louis Cardinals. They may be the polar opposite to the Boys.

Attracted by greats like Stan the Man, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock and many more.

The Cards are about teamwork, humility, pride and accomplishment. Solid, dependable farm system and patient development of talent. Heavy into community goodwill and midwest values. No flash just consistant, high level production year after year.

I wear red in summer and blue in fall and winter. It's counter culture here
in California.

It's estimated those penalties would be upwards of $120 million dolllars to pay off the lease. A steep price for the prospect of moving to a city that already has failed to support two former NFL franchises, in a league that has rampant across the board revenue sharing.

Awesome thread idea: my other teams:

Chicago Blackhawks: Comparable to the 1990's Cowboys, IMO. Loaded with young talent.

Toronto Blue Jays: I'm Canadian. Thought the Jays would be something this year, obviously hasn't materialized.

I'm the most passionate about the Cowboys, far and away. I'd trade five Blackhawks Cups for another Superbowl, LOL.

The only other thing that compares is Olympic hockey, so I'm looking forward to Sochi...

In Los Angeles, everything depends on a new stadium in the right location. If that can be accomplished, that $120 million would be chickenfeed for that market. Without it, no franchise is going to move there.

Since I don't see anything happening on the LA-stadium front in the near future, you might have some time in Jacksonville after all.

Keep in mind, though, that as time passes, that lease penalty will lessen and bring other possible markets to bear.
