How far would you trade up for Johnny Manziel?

And I laugh at those who think the Cowoys are headed for a decade of mediocrity

you need only check your rearview mirror at the past decade to have your laugh reduced to a guffaw - then the previous seven years will reduce your guffaw to an 'ulp'. i've seen eras of Cowboys greatness - and we're coming up on decades of past tense. but don't let small annoyances like a nigh coming on two-decades of inconvenient facts trip you up on your way to some overblown view of upcoming Cowboys' greatness.

Oh, i suppose it has nothing to do with the future - if you believe success for pro sports franchises is a random occurence - and not the result of smart coaching, cagey roster maneuvers and shrewd drafting. Maybe you believe David Blaine actually levitates.

Son, I was around to witness the Landry teams that made the playoffs every year - that played in ten conference championship games and five Superbowls. But keep touting current and upcoming Cowboys' greatness.

I can see this is going to go back and forth so I'll just say......I hope Cowboys greatness is in the future

It seems more likely now than previously that Johnny Manziel could slide out of the top 5 draft picks. The reason is twofold. 1) The Raiders' strange trade for Matt Schaub. 2) Cleveland GM's announcement that he won't attend JM's Pro Day. (could be a smokescreen, but there you have it.) The Browns' GM apparently attended both Bridgewater and Bortles Pro Days.

So the draft could go something like:

Texans : Bortles
Rams: Matthews
Jags: Clowney
Browns: Bridgewater
Raiders: Mack
Atlanta: Robinson
Tampa: Watkins
Minnesota at 8 is the next likely qb team.

Would you consider a trade up to Atlanta or Tampa at 6 or 7 to take Manziel (or Bridgewater or Bortles). That would be about the same as the Claiborne trade. I think if JFB is top 3 or so on your draft board, don't you consider it?
Cleveland GM Ray Farmer did not attend any Pro Days.

About the only time you can read into interest with a QB is if they do not have an official visit. I believe the Browns have said they will do so.

I laugh at all those who turn their noses up at Manziel. the guy is a just a football player and has talent and leadership skills to smoke the field at the position of QB coming out this year. Dallas will never get a sniff at him and left to the devices of silly Cowboys fans like those who've posted how they'd pass if he was there at 16 - which he surely WON'T BE - this team can count on another decade of mediocrity. Criminy.

I laugh at all those who have fallen in love with this guy apparently ignoring guys like him rarely succeed in the league. He was a pain in the *** at A&M to the point where his own coach said at times, it was a lot to deal with. His style of play doesn't particularly translate well to the pros because most experts agree that it's rare you can coach a kid to play an entirely differently way then he's been playing. Look at Michael Vick. Teams tried to make him into something he wasn't. When things broke down his DNA kicked in.

That's the fear with Manziel. His game is largely based on improvising. You cant do that in the NFL where defenders are bigger, stronger, faster.

Whoever takes him is taking the biggest risk in the first round. It's not even close.
