How in the world are we gonna keep Barber, Jones, and Choice?

I was talking to my wife about this last week, because she really likes Choice...and out of nowhere I just said..."well they better enjoy him"

and shes like "what?"

I mean come on guys lets get real, a 3 rotation back set???? wth...especially one like his. Has anyone even thought of what's going on in Jerry's mind about these 3 running backs...we know barber can perform, that's if hes not suffering from a cuticle tear next year on one of his fingers that keeps him out of games. And Felix Jones can really perform...then there's Choice which surprised everybody with his huge games...so how can Jerry not shop Choice around in the offseason...I say having choice as a back up will hurt his career, and I say the Cowboys shop him around and eventually get rid of him...reason is we have no draft picks till the 51st pick. This would be a way for the Cowboys to get back some draft picks or some more OL which we need badly....

what do you guys thinK?

One of them will have to be happy with playing a minor role. If not eventually one of them will leave.

My money would be on Barber leaving before two players that are younger and more athletic.

Nobody's going anywhere this year though.

Why are we worried about keeping them?

Jones and Choice are rookies. Don't they have like three-year, four-year contracts?

And Barber just signed.

Neither is going anywhere, anytime soon unless the Cowboys get a stunning trade offer.

In about 2 or 3 years either Choice or Felix will go because we won't be able to resign them. Unless, of course, by that time the huge deal we gave Barber will be easy to swallow if we let him go then you might see them let Barber go to keep Choice and Felix.

It's all going to depend, in the end, on how easy it will be to dumb out of the Barber contract.

It shouldn't be difficult, as all three are used to playing second fiddle to the passing game.

I agree it isn't a problem for a few years, is it? I guess it depends on the deal Choice got.

Choice starter....

Barber 3rd down, red zone, short yardage, closer.

Felix change of pace guy.

This is a good problem to have.

We can keep all 3 bc we wont have TO, def Roy W, Keith Davis, Tank Johnson, or Pacman contracts or attitudes to worry about. Cut these guys and we are on our way to becoming a better team.

Having 3 rb's is necessary IMO.

You need at least 3 to make it through a season as a team who runs the ball. and if we are going to win, we have to commit to blocking straight ahead and pounding people as a run team first to set up Witten, Roy and Bennett.

...and that's what I was thinking a "trade offer" might come in the season from a struggling running team, most teams know the situation at Dallas with the RB's ....that they are stacked, I just hope we dont get screwed...like some said use barber in goal line situations and rotate felix and Choice. The problem with that is that it's a lot easier for opposing defenses to figure you out when they know who's coming in and who's coming out, I've never liked that strategy.

I really wouldn't worry about the running back position. Running backs are a dime a dozen. By the time either of them are ready to move on, they'll be another young stud coming out of college.

Believe me, that's the least of our worries.

Opposing D's had no clue how to stop Barber when he was coming off the bench on 3rd down and in the red zone.

Bingo. Something to worry about in two years. I can't imagine Choice having anything less than a 3 year contract. At that point, shop Barber around.

Injuries can quickly change the personnel (and did) at a well-stocked position, especially at RB. Felix was gone after Arizona and Barber was gimped the last 4 games, so I think having 3 solid, versatile backs is a good thing.

If only we had this problem at WR instead of trying to figure out which undrafted free agent is going to be our #2 and 3..
