As the season unfolds and Austin and Hurd continue to prove that they are JAGS.. Besides a injury.. Do u see a scenario that Ogletree gets activated? Will it take Garrett or Romo stepping up and saying play this guy?

Jayson Williams will take Felix's spot.

As soon as he isn't a bigger JAG than Austin and Hurd.:

I would think they base it on what they see during practice. This is not pre-season. Ogletree was a long shot to make the club, had a good pre-season. When they feel he is ready I'm sure they will place him on the 45 man game day roster

How hard is it to understand that Austin and Hurd are the 3rd and 4th receivers on a team that for the majoirty of a game do not use 3 or 4 receiver sets?

Plus the have 6 other players to get the ball to besides their 3rd and 4th receivers. Soooooooo they do not have much off an opportunity to get the ball, now do they?

Furthermore when Austin has had the opportunity he has made big plays, what more do you want from him?

Bravo.

In PMs I was discussing with a friend how backups are somehow saviors unless they are high draft picks, and then they are busts if they are not All Pro their first year. Every player is great until they have a bad game and then they should be cut. Immediately, no questions asked.

It would be comical if it wasn't so sad.

All he had to do is beat out Stanback and he'd make the team. I'm not saying he won't be good but in no way is he our savior. If he is we are in far worse shape than anyone realizes.

I wish we still had Stanback. I miss all the hating threads and lame intentional misspelling of his name. Stanglass.

I think people get a bit impatient and want to see him I understand that but coaches tend to make sure a player is ready and knows the playbook before tossing them out there. They also have to feel that he is better than the player he is replacing.

I agree 100%. It's hard to get the ball when you have two tightends,3 RB's,and 2 WR's who are a head of you in importance of getting them the ball. You outta sit in for a game thread. You'll read all kinds of good stuff.

I think what many people think is that Ogletree should be replacing Crayton or be the 3rd and on the field.I have no idea. The guy does get open. But I trust the coaches.

Holy crap, can we stop talking about this now? Austin is doing fine; Hurd should be better than Ogletree right now.

Austin is our #3 and our deep threat.

Hurd is a much better ST player.

The Tree will not see the field this season unless there's an injury.

2010. There's no way we re-sign both Austin and Hurd to long-term contracts after this season. I imagine Hurd gets let go (unless Austin wants major money) and Ogletree begins battling for the #3 receiver spot.

I just can't wait for teams to stop selling out against our passing game so we can light it up and shut some of these people up.

Its funny how deep professional teams are putting their safeties downfield against us.

This.

Sadly, I tend to think we've seen about all we're going to see out of Hurd....and I'm about 50/50 on whether Austin's potential will ever be realized in a Cowboys uni.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Ogletree can do in meaningful games...but I think we'll have to wait until next season barring major injury.
