How many current Cowboys OL would've started during the 'Great Wall' era?

I'm just curious since I didn't really get to enjoy those years and that line due to age. Could Tyron, Martin, or Frederick have started? I'm guessing TFred is better then Stepnoski. What about Smith and Martin?

Was Nate Newton the RG? I think Martin could start over him.

Yes, Martin, Fred and Tyron could start. Oddly, Tyron would have had the biggest battle because Tuinei was underrated and Erik Williams was as good as it gets at RT before the car wreck

I would love to see the current OL with the 1993 version of Eric Williams at RT.

In your opinion does this line have the potential to be better then the Great Wall?

Fredbeard for sure and Martin likely.

Watching Tui and Tyron battle for a starting job in training camp would be a dream come true.

IMO Erik pre-injury would probably be the best OL in the game today. Can you imagine him and Martin at RG and RT together??

Wow... the more I think about it, a combination of the 5 best lineman from these 2 eras (in their primes) could arguably be the best line in NFL history. Obviously it's just fantasy, but how many teams can say that?

Larry Allen
Erik Williams
Martin
Tryon
Fred
Tui
Newton
Gogan
Stepnoski

I would salivate at the chance to see them all battle for 5 starting positions.

Put pre accident E Williams at Right Tackle and Larry Allen at LG, leave Fred, Martin, and Tyron. I don't think they would ever be stopped.

That wouldn't be fair dude....

Dean Blandino would change the rules against physical run-blocking. Erik and LA together in their primes would literally frighten the rest of the league.

It's funny, I don't ever remember hearing this term 'great wall' until this tv special.

Depends on what you mean. I'd say if you transported these guys back in time and played them in the early 90s they'd already be better. But relative to current players, I guess we have to wait and see. I mean, in 2014 they were outstanding. String together 4-5 years of that and you're talking about one of the best lines ever.

T. Smith, Frederick and Martin would easily start.

I don't know if Frederick would start over Stepnoski, but Smith would definitely start. I get the love for Tuinei. I really do. But Smith is just better.

Stepnoski couldn't even be a backup in today's NFL. Too small.
