I want him back. I want the franchise tag be used on him.
Pay Dez the long term deal. I want to see Murray do it one more year first.

Seriously though why would Williams turn down 10 teams just to stay on the Cowboys practice squad?

Just odd.

He must know that he has a strong chance of some serious play time next year. No other reason he would do that because that would be incredibly stupid.

With McClain and Murray gone, we can get SUH, and find an edge elite rusher, or one or the other. I just want a pass rush, and I want it now.

smh, while I don't have a problem with Murray walking and not paying McClain big money, your plan is flawed. Just like we could use the franchise tag on Bryant, Detroit can use it on Suh. And just like QBs better than Romo don't grow on trees, neither do elite edge rushers. Odds are, if you want one, Greg Hardy will be the only one available and I'll just say I'll pass on him.

I could type the names of superstar preseason players who never did anything in the regular season until my fingers bleed, but instead I'll just bold the ridiculous part of your post.

Agreed. Why are we talking about a guy who couldn't even make our active roster all year in the same conversation as the first team all pro who ran for 1850 yards this season.

I know what he did in preseason....less than 100 yards.

Don't think we should re-sign Murray because he will cost too much. I think Joseph Randle will be able to handle the load next year - not ideal, but practical. Maybe draft a RB as early as the 3rd, depending on what moves we make in FA.

I would send Murray packing & McClain packing. If Dez wants to play hard ball, franchise him. I hate to be mean to some of my favorite players, but today just rubbed me the wrong way, seriously. With McClain and Murray gone, we can get SUH, and find an edge elite rusher, or one or the other. I just want a pass rush, and I want it now.

I don't think we have the option to say ...hmmm do we want McClain and Murray or Suh and Jason Pierre Paul....

It doesn't work that way.

RB Ryan Williams has been pursued by roughly 10 teams to put on their active roster. Turned them all down. Will Cowboys need him this week?

48 RETWEETS 34 FAVORITES

This was in Dec but nonetheless.

I think by December, he was content with staying in Dallas, knowing Murray probably would not be back next season and go for his shot there. Not to get thrown into another team and packing up him and if he has family.

But I'm pretty sure if he was pursued in September, would have been different.

There's a reason he was a second round pick.

And there's also a reason Arizona gave up on his so early in his career. And there's also a reason why the best opportunity he could get was a team that had a Pro-bowl RB as a starter, a guy drafted in the 4th the year prior as the back up and another guy who has a totally different skill set as the 3rd string/3rd down back. He never had any chance of making the roster here, unless someone got hurt. And while I believe teams did want to sign him, he likely knew that it would only be for a few weeks until their guy got healthy.

If we Franchise him you know we probably won't be able too sign anyone except dez ?

That is not correct. Restructure Romo, Tyron and cut Carr and not pick up Free or Melton's option we will have a considerable amount of cap space.

I want him back. Sure.. But it all comes down to money. Will he sign a team friendly contract? Do we have the money to keep him if he won't, along with all the other free agents on our roster we need to consider? Will Dez play ball in all of this or does he get franchised? Who's willing to restructure? How do we spend outside the franchise on FA? So many factors to consider. I like Murray A LOT. And yeah you can say he rushed behind a very good Offensive Line; which he did. But it's no like he was just whistling and skipping rope through those holes. The man ran people over. I would rather add than subtract. He's our power rusher. The guy you depend on in goal line situations. What I would like to see is him expelled more with a finesse back. Someone quick who can explode through those big holes, find daylight and juke a DB or 2 for the score. I just think it's crazy to cut ties with not only the League's leading rusher, and a guy who just broke Emmitt Smith's single season record, but a guy who was challenging Eric Dickerson's ALL-TIME season rushing record for most of the season. There's been a lot of great offensive lines in the history of the NFL but not very many that had Murray's production. If we don't find a way to keep him, it'll be very disappointing. That man has heart and wants to play here.

I'm pretty sure 10 teams didn't just come knocking at his door in Dec. but hey stranger things have happened.

And not to mention the pay...

Not really, it's a gamble no doubt, but not dumb. Had Murray gone down, he would have gotten quite a few carries behind an elite o-line. This easily could have made him a ton of money in the offseason, where signing with another team, just to be inactive, would put him right back where he is now.

Zona wanted him back. He would've been on their roster for awhile. He declined. Which was stupid. But he is a damn good ball carrier. Even if he can't block or play special teams.
