you are right - Gumbel is the prime culprit, but NFLN's overall presentation wsa pretty bad....

I didn't get to watch the game yet, but whoever the doofuses are on the Cowboys' postgame show (Norm and somebody or other), they have made one error after another since the game ended.

-- They went on and on about how Dallas leads the NFL in scoring but is 28th in points allowed. The problem is, whoever said that added today's points TWICE. We're actually No. 2 in points scored and No. 19 in points allowed (but should be somewhere between 10th and 14th after the rest of this week's games).

-- They claimed they didn't see Bobby Carpenter do anything on defense today. "Was he out there? I think he made a special teams tackle."

-- They said this is the second week in a row Barber had more carries than Julius. Except that Julius had more carries in both games.

I'm pretty certain there were others.

Well, I guess if you are going to rag on someone you might as well find every minute detail. For real, if you are going to thow everything onto something and call it bad.....you might as well find just that last little piece, that last little itty bity small piece and make sure it gets planted on there as well.


Its not like it was completely out of the blue.....they were comparing his running with Vicks.


Gumball sucks but I don't watch football for its commentating entertainment value so I could really care if the broadcasting was in Chinese or not......as long as they don't take away from the game with all these cover stories and graphics, I really don't care about the presentation.

Heres one thing that I like about NFL network presentation......no stupid *** idiot reporter down on the field giving you every possible piece of information that you could never want.

I lost track. The idiotic comments were coming fast and furious from those clown announcers.
One that stood out to me was the comment that Ferguson led the d-line in tackles but Spears is the marque (or words to that affect) player on the d-line.

I expected Vermeil to be a helluva lot better commentator than he was tonight. Neither him nor Gumbel seemed to have done much research on the players.
The NFL oughta be embarrassed if they think they are putting on a quality production.

:bang2: it was sickening. Both Faulk and Deion were making it so obvious who they were rooting for and sounded like it was the Falcons not the Cowboys in 1st place of their division

It got so bad in the second half I hit the mute and told my friends I would do the commentary because I knew more about what was going on and would make less errors. The NFL Network really dropped the ball with their announcers. At least we didn't have to listen to Dick "gimme another kleenex" Vermeil in the 2nd half or Chris "nobody likes me" Collinsworth at all tonight.

They need to bring Rod Woodson off the set, hes strong, articulate, and accurate. Reduce the 4 man set crew to three, give them more time to prepare for the games, and less time to screw up.

Bah, I just wish there was an alternative to watching the NFLN... its not worth the fight besides being able to see the games. I may just have to start listening to the radio during NFLN games

when he said that I was looking for the impossible to see 'shot' clock...

I will say this in defense of the NFLN - they do seem to be willing to speak in more technical terms than the other networks who seem to try to dumb it down...i do appreciate that...

I agree with all of you except on the subject of Vermeil..........I think he is an excellent color man (although he did make a couple of mistakes) however he was so hoarse you had to turn the sound up. Another point nobody mentioned that to watch the game in HD you had to go to Channel 95 if you were using DirecTV. I was just lucky to find it.

The most hilarious mistake to me was when it was nearing the 2 minute warning and Vick just threw it deep and said he had a WR right open, which got me scared and then the pass was incomplete with 4 cowboys players around the receiver. LOL

on Thursday's game - Bryant Gumbel called Frank Gore - Al. He is definitely the worse play by play announcer I've ever heard. Dang these guys make MNF look good. Deion and Marshall did pretty good.
