Why? It is hard enough to balance out enough carries for 2 backs let alone a 3rd

they would have Fargas/bush/jordan/reshard lee!/echemandu/dominic rhodes and then possibly mcfadden.

Why would you keep the veteran in jordan and his contract?

Fargas was very good last year and bush is a good prospect.

oh doh, just realized what you meant....HI I am with stupid.

Because I would hate a situation where barber is banged up and we are heading to ny or philly in november and the rookie is responsible for pass protection and blitz pickup.

If all three are healthy you find a way to use them. 15 to barber 5 to the other two or more. If the money is right, I think it would be a good fit.

I'm not saying the Raiders would keep him but why would we want to add a 3rd back who chances are would not be active within the 45 man game day roster? Only time a 3rd back is carried in a game is if he can provide help within special teams. Add to that with 2 RB it is hard enough to balance out the carries. How many times in a game will we run the ball 30 times? Last season we avg 26 carries a game. I'm all for having a 3rd RB on the 53 man roster but I think you can do that with an UDFA whose cost would come at a much cheaper price.

i think we absolutely draft one and take another if he's a good value pick.

back when we took JJ, I felt crushed when we passed on Michael Turner in round 5. I'd expected he'd go in the 3rd

It depends on who drops to where. I could see us taking 2 if someone we really liked fell to the late rounds. Otherwsie, I see 1 RB and aybe 1 FB because we have plenty of other backup slots to protect: DB, WR, OL, NT

Your right the gameday roster is hard to juggle. Especially if you have three active tight ends.

I just worry about injury and the rookie being forced to be the main guy.

i would be ok without even drafting one at all. this is not a major need position, surely we can sign a FA RB to backup Barber, i really hope we dont draft one in the first 3 rounds.

No doubt injuries can always happen to any position but having a vet who is inactive is a waste in my view. I have nothing against Jordan I just don't see how he fits if Dallas is going to go with Barber and a RB we think will come out of the 1st or 2nd rd. I think we will see some decent players in the UDFA market after the draft is over and I think if you’re going to fill a role of a 3rd RB that is the way to go. I would not mind a vet at the minimum rate if he could provide help in special teams at least he would have the chance to contribute and it would be easier in justifying bring him in on the 45 man roster.

I think they should select one back relatively early (take your pick) and then Owen Schmitt as a mid-rounder. That should about do it...

Well, I have to say that the thing I don't really understand is how Jones is considered a #1 pick but Charles is not. IMO, neither is a #1 pick but having said that, here are the numbers.

Felix:

5'10" 207 lbs

40: 4.44
20: 2.59
10: 1.46
Vert: 33 1/2
Broad: 10"04'
Bench: N/A
Shuttle 4.19
3cone: 6.90

2005: Atts - 99/Yds - 626/APC - 6.3/TDs - 3/Rec - 8/Rec Yds - 100/AYR - 12.5/TDs - 0

2006: Atts - 154/Yds -1168/APC-7.6/TDs-6/Rec-8/Rec Yds-107/AYR-7.1/TDs-3

2007: Atts-133/Yds-1162/APC-8.7/TDs-11/Rec-16/Rec Yds-176/AYR-11.0/TDs-0

Career: Atts-386/Yds-2956/APC-7.68/TDs-20/Rec-39/Rec Yds-383/AYR-9.82/TDs-3

Charles:

5'11" 200 lbs

40: 4.38
20: 2.53
10: 1.46
Vert: 30 1/2
Broad: 10'02"
Bench: N/A
Shuttle: 4.22
3Cone: 6.80

2005: Atts-119/Yds-878/AYC-7.4/TDs-11/Rec-14/Rec Yds-157/AYR-11.2/TDs-2

2006: Atts-156/Yds-831/AYC-5.3/TDs-7/Rec-18/Rec Yds-183/AYR-10.2/TDs-1

2007: Atts-258/Yds-1619/AYC-6.3/TDs-18/Rec-17/Rec Yds-199/AYR-11.7/TDs-0

Career: Atts-533/Yds-3328/AYC-6.24/TDs-36/Rec-49/Rec Yds-539/AYR-11.0/TDs-3

I mean, show me. I don't see it. How can all these prognosticators come to the conclusion that Jones is a 1st rd pick but Charles is not? According to what I am looking at, Charles is faster, he's more productive. The only advantage Jones enjoys is Average Yard Per Carry. I guess I just don't understand how these conclusions are arrived at.

I'd probably take Charles before I'd take Jones but if Charles is not worth 22, then there is no way that Jones is worth that pick either IMO.

We'll draft the one early for sure and then we'll either go with an UDFA or the kid off the practice squad from last year as our 3rd.
