How many training camps is this for you?

I grew up in North Carolina so I was never near any Cowboy training camps. I watched all of their pre-season games on tv but back in the 70's and 80's there were only a couple games on tv. It wasn't like it is today. I remember going to the mall and buying all the pre-season football magazines every summer though. lol I follow the pre-season a lot more now because with the internet and NFL Network you can really follow the progress of the team daily. I wish it was like that back then.

Those were different times. We could usually count on seeing the Cowboys play a couple of preseason TV games and almost always the last one was against the Oilers in Dallas. Other than that, there was very little info available. There were no newspapers for sale in my town and zero TV coverage of training camp - except sometimes if the weather was right we could see a Commanders update on one of the Norfolk stations.

I was reading Hos's thread and I commented this was my 50th training camp and I got to wondering how many here have had 50 or more training camps with the Boys.

So how many training camps does this one make for you? How do you feel about all those numbers? Which one do you remember best and why? Not the season but the TC.

Just thought I'd add one last offseason thread before it really starts jumping around here. Maybe this one will be a little interesting.

Lived (and died some) through all of them...attended one in Austin when JJ was coaching

Oh, so you're an old fart, too. :) Congrats. Are you starting to worry about not seeing another SB or SB win?

I know you didn't address that question to me, but I can't tell you how many times I've asked myself if I've witnessed my last DC Super Bowl. At the rate we're going, my Grand Kids may not see one.

I sold my soul to the devil for that run in the 90's, so I'm living on borrowed time anyway. I figure Jerry did too, they'll probably stuff us both in the same hole. So he better win another one before my time is up, or I'll show him a new meaning of the word "hell" when I get there.

I've attended about 8. They were 92, 93, 95 and then some in the Parcells, Wade and Garrett eras.

I've attended just 5 training camps.

1971, 1977, 1992, 1993, 1995 & I am going to attend my 6th this year.:D:D:D:D:D:D

I hope not but I do think I may not see another one.

I have it on good authority Jerry plans on living forever.

A lot of TC's.

My favorite was in Witchita Falls, we went out to graham central station club, and I look up and standing elbow to elbow with me was George Teague. Then playing pool, Emmitt, about 5' away from us. My Wife waved to him, and he pulled down his sunglasses, and waved back with a big "Emmitt smile". True story.

The Commanders were the home team in NC in those days. They were on tv every week. I was the only Cowboy fan in my school. Everyone else were Commander fans. lol

55 for me. Yep, I saw when dirt was invented. The one I remember most was when Michael Irvin stabbed a 2nd string OL in the neck.

Duane Thomas, upon being sent to New England (Boston) once called Schramm: "sick, demented, and dishonest". What was Schramm's witty riposte?

"He got out of three"

Back in the Parcells era, he had the Cowboys morning practice at Burbank High School here in San Antonio, which was great because you get right close to the action. One day, I was watching the OL from about 20 feet away, when Flozell proceeded to beat the crap out of Torrin Tucker. He had him like a rag doll, and they let him go for a couple of minutes. Then Larry Allen stepped in and Vollers got a hold of Tucker and took him aside. Flozell lunged back at Tucker and Larry gave him push with one arm, and almost sat Flo on his behind. That was the end of the fight.

That same practice, Sean Payton grew frustrated with the QBs, (Quincy, Hutch, Romo and Stoerner or Henson) and started yelling at Parcells to let him go with Romo, "I want Romo in there." I'm pretty sure it was romo's rookie year.

Great memories from past TC.
