No one will ever know anything of that sort because Dallas was the only organization that would hire Schottenheimer as HC. Just like Garrett, Philips, and McCarthy before him, this'll be Schottenheimer's last HC job.
49ers lost their best pass rusher, best WR, their best overall defender, and now their all world TE, to injury. 4 of their top 6 or 7 players gone, and they still find a way to win a playoff game. All that and their QB missed half the season, they still managed 12 wins. Dallas would've been 3-14 or some such with the injuries the 49ers have had. Yet in spite of it, here SF is, in the divisional round, in a place where Dallas has only been 6 times in 30 years, only once this decade, and yet the old fool and his son tell us that "it only takes one year" to make things right. Idiots.
