How much are FA LBs Durant, Carter and McClain going to cost?

I want all three of these guys back. Looks like it won't be cheap. What kind of contracts do you think we are looking at? This tweet got me thinking about it.

Found a brief discussion of it at this link also:

Question: Chances Rolando McClain is a Cowboy again next season?

Tim Cowlishaw: 72.5 percent. How's that? The Cowboys want to sign him although his occasional inability to get on the field or almost ever practice is something of a concern. The interesting thing -- and maybe advantage to Cowboys -- is that they have 3 LBs who are free agents (Carter, McClain, Durant) and a lot of depth at the position with Hitchens, Wilber, Sean Lee in place. They don't have to keep them all but I would say they would like to keep them all but one. I think there is a good chance they lose Carter, he's going to get paid.

Rolando will come cheap. He's a head case , no one will take a big money chance on him , and he only wants too play for dallas. Durant will also come cheap . He's injury prone and aging. Carter will cost too much he's gone.

Its hard to tell. I have a hard time believing Durant and McClain will demand big money. Durant is coming off a season ending injury, McClain has been dinged up all year.

Carter is the mystery. I think he played himself into a decent sized contract. I personally think Carter is the most important of the 3 and if he can be had a decent price he should be retained. In a perfect world, i'd love to bring all our safeties back and make that a strength of our defense. That's hoping everyone would be healthy. They all played well enough to be retained but I think Carter is the one who may have played himself into a solid contract.

The more I review all this the more it looks like Bruce Carter is going to get a huge contract. Five year/35 million offer from a team appears to be realistic. He's got raw physical tools (fastest LB in the NFL?) and is starting to play up to his potential. It will be tough to keep him with other teams like the Seahawks bidding for his services. If we have Lee, Hitchens, Durant and McClain, along with Wilber and whoever else, we might have to go with that so that money can be invested in other areas of the defense.

That would still require signing Durant and McClain, but those contracts will be a lot less and more easily affordable.

I'd prefer we kept them all.

Mcclain never practiced- i dont really care if he is gone next year. He is a nice story but i seriously have to question his desire still with all of the practice that he missed.

We already have one linebackek that is brittle, i dont want to have two.

Id like Durant back at 2/3 million a year.

I think if Carter is gone they play Lee at the SAM. He played that at Penn State. Durant was bad at SAM and Hitchens played better at the WILL. I love the idea of Lee roaming the flats and crossing routes. But losing Carter would hurt.

My dream LBer starters for 2015 would be
SAM: Bruce Carter
MIKE: Denzel Perryman
WILL: Sean Lee

I've heard many speak of Lee as if he is inevitable. Sure hope we have plan B in action. I have my doubts about him staying healthy.

the LB corp will be a puzzle until they sign a couple of guys...my hope is for all to return, but I might just see them trying their hand at finding another gem in the draft and getting even younger at the position...more speed being the key....in that event (if that is their plan), then they won't sign all of them

Bruce Carter is 3-4 LB.. In Pittsburg or Baltimore he'll be a pro bowler...

Which ever ones we lose we better replace in the draft, preferably first 4 rounds somewhere..

I think we have to keep two of the three, probably Durant and McClain. Carter played great the latter half of the season but I think he will be too expensive.

My biggest concern is that if we roll with McClain, Lee, and Durant, we've got three very injury-prone guys in the LB corps. Hopefully they can make it through most of the season next year, because that's a good looking group when healthy.

I disagree. I think he can play the WILL pretty well. I hope we can enter 2015 with Lee, Carter, Rolo, Hitchens and Lawrence. I think they let Durant walk and let Wilber compete with a LB to be drafted and/or FA guy.

Seems like it should be cheap to keep all 3. Durant and romac have an injury history and carter is too up and down for a big payday.

My take on the LB situation is to try to re-sign all of them within the framework of the budget. I like them all.

Just watching the trends, Carter will be terrible if he leaves Dallas for the first year. He has was bad in Dallas his first year while learning both schemes they implemented. Heck, he was bad at the start of this season until about the halfway point. He would be a better player if he stays in Dallas.

He had a huge "up" at the end of his contract year. Led all NFL linebackers in interceptions. Talk about perfect timing for him.

Teams throw stupid money at players every off-season. I think your likely wrong that he won't get a very big contract.
