How much do you love the Dallas Cowboys

I don't know about you guys but I love the Cowboys until it hurts. We've had a long relationship since birth and I've never broken up with them. They've cheated me several times but have made it up by giving me several rings. As I look back over the years of hurt and pain and as I reflect on the tears I've shed after "The Catch," the Jackie Smith dropped ball in the endzone, and the Romo interception versus the Commanders last year to name a few leads me to wonder why do I love this team so? This team has given me anxiety, in fact I've had a few anger management issues. As a kid I had this electric football game with these little plastic men that moved as you flipped a toggle switch. After a loss I went into my room and bit the head off all the Cowboys players. I had a Tony Dorsett doll that had all the removable accessories. After a loss, I took a brick to his chest. Nowadays when they lose I avoid all the sports talk until their next game, because it seems like the media loves to glorify a Dallas Cowboys loss. I've come to realize this union will be "until death do us part," and I will continue to endure the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Pretty much the same here. Been a fan since I was old enough to decide I enjoyed watching football with my Dad. I would give anything to watch one more game with him.
As far as anger management, I get nine kinds of mad but I can't remember taking it out on any of my possessions. I do, however, avoid the internet after MOST losses. This sight is usually more than I can tolerate after a loss.

I don't love them but they're my favorite team.

I am envious of the fans who were around for Landry & all that.

Perhaps I would LOVE them if I had experienced all that. All I've known is Jerry.

I'll admit, I have a somewhat unhealthy fascination with the Cowboys. It is what it is

i have been there through the 70's and after watching this ....i real am contemplating on never watching them again..seriously its the same week in and week out.....our defense is a complete joke ....if it's not Romo killing the game for us it's Reds game management....or Jerry's lack of drafting skils....i think it really is time to stop tormenting myself every week with this pure unadulterated crap.....

From about 1983-2011, the losses killed me, after the Cowboys lost on 9-11-11 to the Jets (no calls against the jets) I said no more.......I'm sticking to it, Dallas was the most successful team of the Super Bowl era, before the parity era but now they bask in mediocrity, oh well I guess

Love the Cowboys. I grew up in Dallas and I've been following them for many years.

There are times when I wish fandom was as easy as just saying, "Welp, done with those losers, time to start following Denver."

But it isn't. Besides, I'd have to buy new jerseys.

30 plus years of loving this team! I'll never leave them. Today REALLY hurt though. I feel for my son, because he's 15 and wasn't alive for the Super Bowl years. He loves them because I do, and cheers with all of his heart, just like me. It kills me to see him anguish after a loss like this. All I could do was try to cheer him up after the game. Felt like crying:(

Very much a love/hate relationship. When you are used to Tom Landry and Jimmy, this is really hard to stomach.

Great post Square! I too had the football game, the Tony Dorestt doll. I also remember the Jackie Smith drop and "The Catch!" I am born and raised in Philly, took a lot of crap and still do through out the years. I have seen some good times but its getting harder and harder with this team. So Mote it Be!!
