How much leash do you give Weeden?

I say a full game and a half. If during that time the offense struggles more than expected, then I say bring in Moore and let him dink and dunk his way to giving us a chance to stay competitive while our D does it's thing.

They are just going to have to get creative with the run and short passing game. We need quick options to get rid of the ball until Weeden gets his confidence up. If he takes one to many hits he's going to fold on us like he did in the Arizona game. I really believe he benefitted from a worn out Eagles defense by the time he took the field last night. Had he had to endure what Romo was going thru from the onset it would have been ugly...

hoping for the best, expecting the worst. I'll be happy with a .500 record when Romo and Dez are back.

I'm more concerned about how he is used, first.

I don't think we can play him too conservatively. I think we need to keep some things safe early on, but I would also like to see them throw it deep. Even if it does not get completed or even if it gets intercepted, at least it will keep the defense honest so they don't clog up the throwing lanes and protect against the screen pass.

I think if we use him in that fashion and he doesn't comply, then I would be willing to yank him earlier than if we basically play it so close to the vest and simply don't know if his lack of performance is all due to him or to the conservative play calling.

The only reason anyone asks this is because they have a love affair with Kellen Moore. The whole point of bringing Weeden in is for situations like this. If you're only going to give your backup QB a game and a half with your starter unavailable, then why the hell is he on the roster?

Kind of hard to be all billy bad arse with the proverbial leash when you have Weeden and someone not good enough to beat out Weeden for a job.

Just something to think about.

I agree with that.

The stat I'll be most interested in will be TDs/INT.

If he maintain a 2:1 I think we'll come out of this OK.

He's not going to read defenses as well as Romo, so you can't go through as lengthy a progression.

I think they'll let him take his shots deep, because he has a stronger arm than Tony, but I think you're going to see a lot of the same passes that he & Romo have been attempting so far this season, with a lot of attempts to the backs and the TE's.

Totally agree.

You cannot basically remove half the playbook for Weeden and just have him dink and dunk.

Nobody tell Weeden he is going to play this weekend.......Just like last year, when he comes in during the game he does fine. But like last year Weeden himself said he gets anxiety when he preps all week...........so put a blindfold on him all week.

Open the playbook. The Falcons and Saints have pretty underwhelming defenses, so now is the time to build his confidence.

The biggest factor is if the team will rally behind him. Say what you want about him in the Arizona game last year, but the whole team didn't show-up that game--oline and Dez included.

They will give him the whole rope. He'll be used more under center.

That's why I loved the pass to Williams. The Eagles were giving the Cowboys that as they were protecting against screens and the run. The play was there and they just needed Weeden to execute.

I look at Weeden as a coach killer type of QB. That pass to Williams has to make coaches salivate because it was on a frozen rope and it was right on the money. Romo could not throw the ball with that much velocity.

But, Weeden doesn't have Romo's ability to read defenses, his pocket presence, his ability to play at that speed of the game and his ability to make off balance throws. So I think we need to give Weeden those opportunities to plant his feet and make those throws from time to time. Weeden may not have a lot of assets, but throwing a ball with a clean pocket is one of them and we might as well use it when we can.

I agree with that it was an ugly team-loss.

There is zero leash on him. There is no plan B. There might be a plan B-1, but we won't know until later today what that is. No doubt one of the PS qbs is headed up and I'm guessing Moore because he knows the offense.

We give him the Kyle Orton game plan. My apologies for bringing him up.
