I hate the tag. I’d rather just let him go if we don’t want to pay him market.

If he(or agent) assures the team that he has no problem playing on the tag, that would be my first choice. The last thing you want is you tag him which leads to all sorts of offseason/camp drama. But if he's ok with it, i'd definitely prefer this. The team has the cap room to do it. It would hurt to let him out the door since that would take away one of the team's few positions of strength. Keep the offense in tact. Ad you have 3 top 50 draft picks to potentially help the defense in the draft.

Sure, in those circumstances, I agree.

I imagine that GP feels like this is his tag year in a war since it’s his last under contract, he got out of Pittsburgh to test his worth and, if he continues to play well, he could get that first big contract.

We’ll see but I imagine it’s going to be time to pay or time to watch him walk away.
