Do you think the Pittsburgh media or national media will write stories talking about how the defending Super Bowl champs escaped with a 3 point win?
They can relax and play this style because no one makes them defend winning games by 3 points.
The Dallas media and national media go on and on about how are we going to replace TO.....do the Steelers have a TO?
Granted we have always felt the need to win games with style, thus we have created these heavy expectations....but the Steelers go for 30 minute stretches in a game with punt after punt after punt after sack after punt. But they WIN. And that is all that matters when it comes to them.
If we don't WIN with STYLE....we have to defend ourselves! It is just stupid considering we have not won since 1996 for this organization to feel as if it has to win big to justify their elite status.
A change needs to take place from the top down...and that has happened with the exit of several "name" players. Then a change needs to take place in coaching philosophy...and that has happened with what we all think will be shorter routes and more run plays. The next change will be with better punt and kick coverage. Then the defense must get gritty and grimy and get off the field and/or hold teams to FGs. Finally CUT BACK THE PENALTIES
I for one look forward to this team physically and mentally grinding and coming out on top against the top teams. And I hope the players will feel proud and resist the urge to apologize for UGLY wins.
After the Commander loss last year, the stupid, TMZ wannabe Dallas media had the nerve to ask Patrick Crayton if he wished they were playing a better opponent than the Bengals to bounce back from a tough loss. And the even more stupid Patrick Crayton told them "YES...I wish the opponent was tougher than the Bengals" The entire organization should have made this exhibit number one this offeseason of how dysfunctional this entire organization had become, and how we need to get back to one play, one quarter, one half, one game at a time.
I THINK we have taken that approach. So let the games begin
