Has anyone else ever felt guilty about a behavioral action (non-criminal) to the point of it bringing intense sadness and heartache because you know the other persons life was made more difficult by your actions? How do you overcome it, especially when you care about the other person but they want nothing to do with you?

If you chose to do intentionally, enjoy it. If it was unintentional and can't be fixed, live with it. If it was unintentional and can be fixed, fix it. Simple as that.

You played someone or you got taken? From the OP it sounded like you did but are now regretting hurting the catfishee?

I hurt in the sense that I used a different name and picture, after some months she kept wondering why I didn't want to give my social media. So I finally came clean, gave social media and real identity. She said she hated me and I should go kill myself because she will kill herself. Then the next day she says writes me on facebook trying to get me to help her find the guy who's pictures I used. Then she said she found a miracle guy in a cafe and now she has a real boyfriend and will hate me forever. I'm obviously not going to contact her but the guilt is real.

That is some really odd behavior, from both parties. Probably best to walk away and chalk it up as a lesson learned.

You've gotta allow yourself to be human. Forgive yourself and move on. There's no one without regrets. We all make mistakes. Find a way for it to make you a better person and move on with life. Easier said than done, I know.

Girl is nuts dude, better off. I thought you knew here personally but were playing like an internet mystery man or something. Shoot, the old lying about your looks in online dating has been going on since it started (oh that was taken when I was in college, etc.) but wouldn't make a habit of that to avoid this situation with a sane woman in the future.

Now she's just being a histrionic look at me; she wouldn't need to do that if she was actually happy. But just be you in the future and you might be surprised that your confidence would attract women moreso over some persona. Agree with John above, I HIGHLY doubt she has some new boyfriend. They have singles nights @ clubs and bars, I would go to those in the future over internet dating; look for the divorcees. :D

Were you cat fishing to troll the girl like you post in some of these threads in the off topic zone to troll?

Is your life that boring that you have to troll people all the time for amusement? Just curious because it is so obvious in so many threads you post in that you are not being serious and that is giving you the benefit of the doubt because the other excuse would be you are dumber than a box of rocks and I doubt that is the case.

Trolling on message forums is silly enough...but cat fishing people and messing with someone's real emotions, especially someone who is lonely and looking for real companionship is just cruel and idiotic. Would be nice if some of these people had some instant karma and the people on the other end screwed them up for a change.

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt here, as the mods are swift and actionable.

Glad you noticed it too.

I think it's a combination of being lonely and not being the sharpest tool in the shed. His quality, or lack thereof of his posts are too consistent to be trolling IMO. His logic and beliefs are just strange.

The irony of his guilt is interesting considering all the low effort content he posts about Commanders players.

Not trying to be religious here but if you are a man of faith go redo your first works, get baptized again. That will clear your conscience better than anything short of saying I'm sorry and trying to go out of your way to make amends...

Interesting.....

I was thinking about how the Cowboys fans may have brought intense sadness and heartache to Commanders fans and made their lives more difficult by our happiness in beating them over the past few years; and then it dawned on me that the analogy broke down because we don't really care about them and whether they want anything to do with us or not.

So screw it, nevermind... I got nothin....
