It seemed that every time we hit a Giant player(at the point of attack).... it seemed that they got an extra 5-10 yards by pressing further, draggin Cowboys....

Was the tackling that bad?

Miserable

And you didn't even mention the complete whiffs. Shockey converted a 3rd and 8 with what was basically a WR screen with no blockers. Somebody (Nate Jones??) came diving in at his knees right at the LOS, Shockey sidesteps him, goes for a first easily. When it's 3rd down and a TE catches the ball at the LOS, he should never get the first. The CB should have broken him down and made Shockey make the first move, while waiting for help from pursuit. I think that was the difference in a punt and a TD.

Close to pathetic. The priority seemed to be pressure, but wrapping up was well down the list.

We won, so they've got a chance to prove it was a fluke.

a lot of:

1. fall down first, stick your arm out, and tell the Giant "your supposed to fall down, this is Touch Football"

2. grab their Jersey, and tell them "your supposed to fall down"

3. arm tackeling

4. scared to put a body on them

5. stupid smack talking to Giant players, after failing to taclking them

6. other?

On that play, the blame can't just go on Jones. 2 or 3 other guys should've got him as well.

I don't have the words to properly describe how bad the tackling was.

Yeah so... other than giving up BIG plays.... if we tackle well they probably dont score 7 on that one drive... prob only 3....

So on tackling alone... how many points did that allow? gotta be atleast 7 or 10 points right? or more?

It was bad. I am waiting for a few to blame camp cupcake, but in my opinion the tackling has been bad and getting worse for the last few years in Dallas. It may even be getting worse through out the league, but I know for certain that Dallas is not doing a good job of it.

I agree but I also agree with what Phillips said at the post game show and this is it can be corrected. I have a feeling the defense will be putting in a lot of work this week on this problem.

Seems we've been tackling this way for years, since we lead the league statistically in 2003 ( miss Dat Ngyuen and Coakley)! It's especially noticeable after we score and teams come right back at us and put points on the board. We seem to be unable to get off the field.

I just got done watching the game against and the tackling was terrible by the front 7 and better by the secondary but not great. Most of the receivers when they caught it rarely got a lot of YAC. The front 7 got pushed back on every play run play and didn't tackle on most plays. Even Ward shed tackles. I think they need to flat out play better there or we are in for a long season. Our blitz calls were just as bad as last year. I don't think a CB helps us next week if our front 7 plays that bad.

I saw way too much running into guys and way too little wrapping up. Apparently everyone thinks they can tackle better with their arms in front of them just ramming into guys than actual hitting, wrapping up and tackling the guy to the ground...

That's exactly the example I was thinking of, too, of how poor tackling cost us a lot. That was a four-point play right there.

This is a case where I do think the non-hitting camp matters. It will take a few games to get that going, but that's nothing unique to us.

There was a lot of bad tackling throughout the NFL yesterday. In the past, guys went to tackle the legs, now they often just want to body check you to the ground to get on "jacked up".
