No one expected Studsoe to do much this year. A lot of people were saying he wont even pass for 3000 yards. No one expected a winning season by any means. Forget about the almost 60% completion %. 40,000 career yards....big deal! So based on mostly everyone heres expectations of drew this year. He exceeded most of them. Meanwhile in Buffalo, JP Lose-man who only had to throw for 2900 yards and 20 tds to be worth his value couldnt even do that. In fact the bum failed miserably. I wonder if Tom Donablow and Mike Full of Mularkey still stand by their statement that 'We felt we got as far as we could go with Drew Bledsoe'

So here is his report card in my eyes, yes I'm a hardcore 'Drewpie' and staunch Bledstud supporter, but I promise this is unbiased at least in terms of grading assessments.....

Game Management: A- Games to note- Carolina, 1st giant game, 2nd eagles game, Cardinals game, Lions Game. Personally I'm not a big fan of this 'game management' philosopy, because that is a title reserved for career journeymen like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Vinnie Testeverde or Jeff Blake. Drew Studsoe is playing in a whole other league compared to these guys. Even in his advanced years he still has so much raw talent and the biggest arm in the NFL today to be a mere point guard type of QB.

Clutch Performances: B+ Charger game, 49er Game, Chiefs Game, Carolina, Eagles twice. He definitily came through in some key games this year starting in the season opener at San Diego. The 49er game featured some classic Bledstudsoe heroics down 2 scores at halftime. The Chiefs game was a vintage shootout with the wily gunslinger cocking his rifle with the game on the line. And who can forget the hall of fame calibur play to T Glenn in Carolina, keeping the season alive. Obviously Drew fell short in a few key games late in the season, or would have received a higher grade. But overall he was money in that he kept the Cowboys in the thick of things all season.

Turnovers: C+ In the haters eyes this has always been his prime nemesis. He had a few issues, fumbles were definitely inflated due to inconsistency at center and their snapping problems. Also had some stupid picks some of them were in mop up time 02 seconds left in the 38-7 Commander win comes to mind. Pretty much throwing a punt in the giant game. But I honestly think he did much better than years past. Let's face it when your a top 5 NFL QB your going to turn the ball over when your trying to make big plays....it's all part of being a gritty veteran.

Decision Making: B- This year i think he made alot of good decsions compared to prior seasons. Seeing him alot of the time just throw it out of bounds showed he wasnt going to force crucial mistakes. He did a few though. Seattle comes to mind, talk about a season defining play for both teams. His throw to Champ bailey on Thanksgiving The weird INT he threw against PHI when he should have just taken the sack.

Motivation: A+ Seeing him yell at keyshawn johnson when he fumbled in a rout showed bledsoe's fire, Watching him dive for a TD against SF. Dive for several first downs while running even in pre season game against SEA. Scoring a rushing TD...Bledstud's burning desire to be the best was reinvigorated in 05', and a precursor of good things to come in 06' after some roster tinkering and new additions. The Buffalo Bills organization paid the ultimate price in letting Drew go and it was definitely a move that will go down in NFL imfamy.

Overall: B+ He had a good seasons, next year will be a dissapointment if the cowboys dont make a very deep run in the playoffs, they should have this year. They controlled the division pretty much until the thanksgiving disappointment yet still came within a game of the playoffs. Flozelll Adams going down was huge everyone has got to admit that. But with or without Flozell, the line was sporadic at best. And the cowboys vaunted running attack didnt do much else when it was supposed to be the focal point of the offense. So you got a running team who couldn't run the ball (sans the panthers game) go 9-7 thats pretty good, So while Bledstudsoe's play was rock solid this year...the scary thing is it can be even better in 06'.

I'm not, I added some insightful commentary, but I graded him fair and square. If I was Biased you'd see A++++ across the board like most run of the mill homers.

You are the only one in the world who believes Bledsoe is better than Peyton Manning. You are biased and anything you say about Bledsoe should not be taken seriously.

I already explained this in that other thread. I'm not retyping it all again. Manning is not as good as you think he is. And finally the rest of the NFL knows that their golden boy is a career choking fraud. At least Studsoe made it to a superbowl and choked there.

Previous post of mine. Use the search feature and you can find it yourself.

You know Sarge, I would disagree with you year after year. Not this year. Not that I would not take Manning on the Boys in a heart beat and not think twice about it.

But Yeah, the pressure was on him and he did not get it done. Getting it done is the bottom line and he has not done it yet.

This to me is another example of why Troy Aikman must be a lock for the HOF and considered one of the best QBs of all time. He flat got it done.

Lets not pretend that poor Manning did not have an all star cast around him and Aikman did. Bottom line is, when the playoffs are in play there are no excuses.

It should make every fan appreciate how good of a QB Aikman was, but unfortunately there are too many yahoos who dont see gaudy numbers therefore come to the conclusion that Aikman was an average QB.

You see, I am not a Peyton Manning shill. My point is Bledsoe is cut from the same cloth as Manning, except that Bledsoe is not even remotely as good as Manning.

I wonder what it would take for you to realize that Bledsoe does not have "it". It took me a while, but I saw the light on Manning. Whereas I saw the light you only make excuses for Bledsoe.

Please explain to me what your defition of 'it' is, and also why you believe Manning has 'it' and Bledstud does not.

Because if you mean intangibles and other inherent factors of a franchise NFL QB...then yes BOTH of them do, or I doubt Drew would have been in the league this long. But if you honestly believe Manning is ever going to win the big game, let alone get there then you are sadly mistaken. Or maybe your definition of 'it' is acting like a toolshed in the huddle by audibiling every play or waving the kicking unit of the field on 4th down. The reality is Manning is not as smart as people think...he just trys to be and fails even worse then calls out his offensive line and coaches. Funny but I don't recall Bledstud blaming other people for his failures, he bites the bullet like a true consummate professional.

The window is closed in Indy, especially because Wayne, The Edge and possibly Freeney aren't affordable to resign. Indy morgaged their entire future by giving Edge a one year franchise deal and also signing that overrated bum corey simon from philly.

They are finished...mark my words. If Peyton is going to have success it won't be in Indy

Umm...Maybe I am missing something, but I think I was saying that Manning does not have "it". Bledsoe does not have "it". If had to have one of those QBs who do not have "it", I would choose Manning over Bledsoe everyday twice a day.

I wish you would at least read what I am saying instead of going off on tangents about things I never said.

C+ or B -

He struggled against the tougher D's..... but who doesn't?.....he had a good season esp for his age......i'm suprised how many QB's are 29+ and playing great......

I agree.
Bledsoe has definite weaknesses. But he does throw a great ball. You have to build your offense around what he does best.
Before Flozell got hurt Bledsoe was rolling.
The first Eagles game was his best in my opinion.
He got rid of the ball and threw it away when he couldn't find any one.
If we can build up our offensive line Bledsoe can take us into the playoffs and maybe more.
This team will not win consisently until we can run the ball consistently though.
Bledsoe had some shootout game's in which we were able to win, but against the good team's in the playoffs we need a running game to help offset Bledsoe's lack of mobility.
This team will go as far as the offensive line takes it.

Good post, as great as Studsoe is...he can't do it alone. He's a statue by nature and needs solid protection and a good running game to complement his high octane passing attack.
