How would you rate Overshown so far?

I don't know why they dont add a second bye week. It would allow the networks to televise another week of games and give players more time to recover.

Where was he in the 1st quarter of the Detroit game. I looked for his number and could never pick it out in the Cowboy's horrible first quarter. It doesn't much matter anymore this year because the Detroit game was a MUST WIN game and with this loss it's season over for them.
 
I just TRULY hope they don’t make the focus of next years draft around getting Eberflus type players then end up firing him after next season.

Not even sure why he was hired. He has no ties to Shoddy. It was probably a ‘Jerry being comfortable’ type of hire.

Can’t keep changing schemes and coordinators when it doesn’t work.

These guys look awful playing zone.

Would have loved the guy playing in Philly Nakobe Dean. The guy has been lights out since his return from a knee injury last year. Only 24 years old. He won't be available now till next season.

yeah and then the next D coordinator is stuck with his players, cycle repeats itself
 
I just hope the young man didn’t rush back to soon from his injury. He’s looked good from what I can tell.

Overshown is very good, but has way too many crappy players around him. Unless we get two new starting LBs, won't matter.

Yes.. and Jerry said earlier in the season that he has changed D co-ords too many times and not given them a chance.

So I'm expecting Flus to be around for quite some time.
 
I love the kids desire and tenacity but he does look just a little slower and maybe still guarding against having another injury, which is totally understandable. If he stays healthy, he should be a stud going forward!
 
Hes ok, not a prowler but ok…

We need a middle linebacker though

I don't see any rust. If he was being used differently you'd see him make more of an impact — he should be blitzing and spying and even given some opportunity to freelance a little bit, but that's not how Eberflus plays defense.

I would like to see a snap max for a player for an entire season, it would create more depth and coaching decisions.



Or maybe even for the short Thursday turnarounds.
 
I would say a solid B.

I’m just glad to see him out there. He’s getting his sea legs and confidence back despite his positive assessment of himself.

That’s normal and should be expected. Not to mention, he’s learning to play in a new scheme.

Hope he makes through this season unscathed and think he’ll hit the ground running next year.

Yes. As one example, I hear analysts say Bland is better in man. You just hired a DC that plays mostly zone, then you give Bland a big contract.

Maybe that isn’t true about Bland, but if so, this is one small example of why I continue to say that there’s no real plan. They collect players and coaches, throw it all together and hope it works.

No plan to get the players and scheme to match….it’s about Jerry “being comfortable.”

I doubt Shoddy was pounding Jerry’s desk for Eberflus, who he somehow has never even worked with. Eberflus was hired because he worked here before and “knows how we do things here with the Cowboys.”

Yeah….as in hiring coordinators that failed elsewhere so Jerry can have the control he wants. Other than hiring an OC later in Garrett’s tenure because he refused to give up on him, he wants his HC to be one coordinator (saves salary), and he wants to pick the other coordinator. Always has his fingerprints all over everything, and they always fail.

From what I understand, Bears fans couldn’t wait to get rid of Eberflus. One year removed, look at them. Coaching matters. Big time. We get the garbage that Jerry can push around and have his fun with his kids. How nice.

Actually I shouldn’t call Eberflus garbage. He is a decent DC but this team does not have the players to run his scheme, and that was the point of my post….they will go out (maybe) and get players he wants, then fire him after next year fails also, then we won’t have the right guys for the next DC who wants to play man. It’s happened before, and something they apparently can’t realize.

Same with K. Elam. Dude was known to struggle in zone yet we were trotting him out there expecting to see different.
