How's Jaylon been doing lately?

not disagreeing with the positive reports, but will add he is not close to the same level of play Sean Lee puts out, not even in the same game, not even the same universe, not even the same cosmos. He is probably 93 billion light years apart from Sean Lee, but other than that he is doing great.
 People get mad but I have to agree. The Sean Lee comparisons are riduclous.

I'll make an avatar bet that Jaylon will be better than Sean Lee next year or the year after.
That's suckas bet.

I win and you use my avi for a year and become one of my minions and have to post 10 great things about me everyday which I will email you

I still want to draft a LB in the first three rounds. Lee will be 32 next season with a history of injuries...it's time to start preparing his successor. If Jaylon pans out and ends up being Lee's successor then great. If not, hopefully it will be the LB we draft. I think they will try to re-sign Hitchens but if not, we will know by the time of the draft so that will make things clearer too.

LB depth is key!

smith is starting to play better but still needs work. he is better in his last four games then in the previous twelve. I thought the rams and packers games were the worst he was one of the reasons why the defense gave up so many rushing yards in those two games.

I would agree. Smiths performance in those two games was as bad as I've ever seen any NFL LBer play. Of course, those losses have now changed the entire season.

He's playing about 1/3rd of the snaps. Really good in coverage. Understands route concepts and what the opposing offense is trying to do. Still has issues in the run game, but is closing the gap. Not as hesitant in the run game as he once was. I'm not exactly confident in him as a starter, but he's progressing very nicely and at times looks excellent.

Excellent!? I am absolutely shocked that anyone would think he has ever had stretches of excellent play. Befuddled.

Still think they would not only help him, but help the team if they had him backing up Lee @ WLB (which, I believe is his best position in the NFL) and developing a better-suited MLB behind Hitchens.

The Cowboys' trainers have said Jaylon will be even better next year when he's 100 percent. Add in the improvements he's already making as far as recognizing his assignments; etc. and it looks like Dallas' big gamble is going to pay off.
Lol

Hoping he’ll be a league average LB in his third year != gamble paying off

By the time this dude becomes a starting caliber LB (if ever), he’ll be a free agent.

His first year didn't count because he was on NFI.

This is the 1st year of his 4 year contract.

That is uncertain because he was paid. Jerry has the right to not grant him a year of service time but it's not like the mediots have ever known what questions to ask really at any point.

Getting a solid starter that you want to try and resign is a successful 2nd round pick. Half of 2nd round picks bust.

He is extremely far from being a solid starter right now. In fact, he is as far away as anyone on the roster from earning that distinction.

So he is the worst player on the roster? Your constant hyperbole destroys your credibility.

No, he isn't. He is much farther along at taking on blocks than most guys are in their first year playing NFL football and his recognition on plays and run fills is much much better. He is already working in space to cover and demonstrates very good range.

You are going to have to do better than throwaway assertions to be convincing.

For any tape-watchers, etc...how has Jaylon been playing lately? Are there things he's doing well, are there concerns for the player he will become, do we still really have no idea due to the injury?

With LB such a concern this year, and with Hitch a FA and Lee a year older, I'm curious how much he's a part of the solution going forward.

I have no clue, so looking for some informed opinions. Thanks.

He looks better then in his first games. His reads are better and he doesnt overun plays that often anymore. Still gets blocked alot and isnt able to shed blockers. Has improved in dropback situations but still isnt good there. Change of direction got better but still is bad.

Shouldnt be on the field. But my guess is coaches think alot of his potential and so think it is important for him to get playing experience.

Did you read the article?

Drummond appears to have been in contact with someone that knows what they're talking about.
