Hoyte's Hit

In reading the NYT blurb that was posted here earlier, it said that Parcells chastised Romo after the second INT because he had the fullback open and he "didn't even look for him."

I went back and re-watched just now, and it's true.

But what had me laughing was, after the INT, Hoyte was the guy who tracked down Will Demps and absolutely lit him up with the tackle. I mean it was "jacked up" quality! Demps actually fumbled the ball but recovered it himself.

So I guess that's one added bonus of having a former Linebacker on offense... he's fully able to make tackles after turnovers!

in a prev. thread........wonderment about why a bunch in Gints players "jumped" Hoyte on the play..........

If in fact a fumble actually occured..........would explain the pile-up in recovery attempt, vrs. revenge on Hoyte

I think Hoyte could be a wrecking ball in short yardage.

I've seen a couple of times where he just blows up the 1st guy, and is on his way to destroying the next defender in his path, and Marion's

Demps was going to pitch the ball to the other Giants player there when Hoyte nailed him. That player was VERY lucky the ball didn't go flying down the field. Look at it in slow motion/frames and you'll see he was about to pitch the ball when he was hit.

Sounds like grounds for a super tricky draw play. Fake the draw to Julius pound the ball for a quick first down with Hoyte, on the downside he's as ugly a fella' as he is effective.

I-Back formation, fullback off center on, one...............D.J. in the 90's several times.

Hoyt will score a T.D. soon on inches and goal to go!

That's exactly right.

Also, as I'm rewatching the game, on the next series, Romo hits Hoyte in the flat... so I guess he was listening to Parcells afterall!

This is a completely separate issue, but I swear the Fasano is one of the ugliest guys on our team.

I think it is great that right when we and the media were saying that the Full Back position is nearly extinct, Parcells takes a linebacker and converts him into an Johnston style fullback and plays him a lot.

Even greater it was in a year where we were going to a base 2 TE offense and cut our only fullback at start of the season.

I like his style!

Hold off on the DJ comparison just yet, Robert Thomas looked like a servicable LB convert to FB at one time.

He looks even worse with his helmet on. His mouth makes a very ape-like shape.

Not to bust on the guy too much. I'm sure he's a nice guy.
