Finishing with 739 yards receiving on 51 receptions this year, 2015 marked the third straight season he’s been the No. 2 leading pass-catcher for the Arkansas offense. And especially this season, Henry has gotten work at every receiver spot and every possible tight end alignment and run nearly every route a tight end or receiver would need to at the NFL level.

Henry, while not the most physical or explosive tight end prospect, shows a focused and refined route tree, a controlled and plus-positioned catch-finishing ability and a devotion to run blocking.

That's nice. Let's use the 34th overall pick on a player who will be warming the bench playing behind a HOF player. Maybe after his rookie contract is up and he has no desire returning to Dallas, he can go to a division rival on the cheap and kill us twice a year while making multiple pro bowls.

There's no way Witten plays until the rookie contract of a player drafted this year is up. For all the bungling they've done of drafting TEs over the last several years, this year would actually make sense. You'd have more of a Dan Campbell / Jason Witten dynamic this time around.

dont get me wrong it would be great to get a very good skill player but if hes not gonna see the field very much till 3rd or 4th season then i would rather take a later round TE who has high potential like Nick Vannett out of Ohio State. I would hope we walk away with 2 starters this years with the 4th and 34th overall picks.(exception being a QB)

The 3 yd passes to Witten are holding the offense back. He has no RAC ability anymore. I'd rather run for three yards, at least you are wearing the defense down.

Witten is going nowhere. He will be starting for at least the next 3-4 years

I can just imagine you leaning back in your chair after clicking post reply, lighting up a victory stogie and thinking to yourself "nailed it".

Check the expiration date on your response. Witten is not for long and the Cowboys should be looking for his replacement. This isn't a situation like Fasano, Bennett and Escobar. Where they are coming in with no chance to be the starter under their first contract. There's an opportunity now for a TE to earn the starting job in the near future.

It is no longer that hard to upgrade from Jason Witten.

I could have warned you I was about to say that but consider this ripping the band-aid off quickly. It's for your own good.

And don't forget the penalties:banghead:...and the fact he doesn't block worth a #@$#$ anymore. This is his last year. Draft a guy like Vannett who is more Dan Campbell. Then in 2017.. Escobar comes back he takes over Witten's vacant spot as the recieving threat @ TE.

Henry would lessen Witten's playing time. That's the kind of talent he has. We certainly should consider drafting him if he's there in the second round.

never said it would be hard to replace him but will they? I would rather have a high potential player in a later round like Nick Vannett. He can learn behind Witten and be ready to take over if Witten calls it quits earlier then expected. If we Take Hunter Henry at 34, then im hoping Witten takes the back seat to the Kid.
