(CNN)Near hurricane-force wind gusts and heavy rain are set to batter the Northeast Sunday on the five-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy.

Tropical Storm Philippe formed near western Cuba a few days ago and was racing up the Atlantic Ocean off the East Coast early Sunday.
"We are in an exceptional season. We saw Harvey in Texas, Irma in Florida and then we have Maria across Puerto Rico. Now we got another tropical storm," said CNN meteorologist Karen Maginnis.

Phillipe is not expected to become a hurricane but will produce rainfall totals of 2-4 inches and up to 8 inches in sections of the Northeast and New England, forecasters said.
Wind gusts could reach speeds of 50-60 mph.

Most of the rain you are seeing right now in the upper and north east areas of the country is from a low front that has been pushing through the country the last few days, not the tropical storm, which is still down near Florida. That said, the tropical storm may be making the front a little more active. Based on the last projections I saw, the winds from the outer edges of the tropical storm shouldn't hit the DC area until later on tonight after the game is over.

Danny Boy with all his money cannot build a dome stadium with a retractable roof. Figured once Jerry built his, Danny boy wouldn't be far behind.

Went through the bands yesterday. I got 2+ inches. Just south of me got 5-6"s.

Didn't notice too much wind.

Rain and 13 mph winds during the game.

Getting out of there afterward might be difficult though. Worse weather could shut the airports down a while tonight.
