Hypothetical for the Board . . . . While I believe

that we will draft an OLB in the 1st round, either at 18 or after a trade down, what do you think of this potential scenario?

Let's say we DO trade down to the bottom of the 1st or even early in the 2nd round . . . .

And let's say there is no OLB we like with the trade down. So we draft for other needs (i.e., OL, FS, etc.).

Could you see a scenario whereby after the 1st 2 rounds (assuming no OLB is taken), we draft a guy like Kai Parham to play ILB, and we move A. Akoye (sp?) to outside? (Even though our current intent is for Akoye to play inside as of today.)

I'd figure a guy like Parham could work nicely in the 3-4 from Day 1, and UNLESS the coaching staff has given up on Burnett, he could challenge either OLB or ILB for playing time later in the year. (And I doubt the coaching staff has already given up on Burnett.)

I'd figure Parham could probably be had in the 3rd round, so even if he is beaten out down the road, it's not like we've invested 1st round money in him.

Anyway, just a thought. Opinions on whether this is a potentially realistic scenario?

In that scenario Al would be the clear starter and we'd keep our fingers crossed that Burnett is healthy and can compete and by the end of the season looks like he's ready to step into the starting role.

You don't think Akoye would beat out Al at OLB? I may be mistaken, but didn't Akoye play OLB with the Jags?

In a 4-3. We might switch Akin to OLB and Al to inside, but I doubt it. Either way Singleton would have the starting job and Burnett would be a backup competing for a starting position by the end of the season.

If we don't draft an OLB early, I highly doubt we draft an inside guy, we'd more than likely grab a DE/OLB tweener to groom.

We'd have Singleton and Boiman at SOLB with Burnett backing up inside and for Ware at WOLB.

And it would be a huge mistake on our part, not adding that playmaker opposite Ware.

I guess what I was thinking was

Ware and Thornton
B. James and Fowler
Parham and Burnett
Akoye and Al Singleton (and Burnett possibly interchanging here/challenging)

Of course, I'm assuming Parham could step in from Day 1.

I forgot to add Boiman to my scenario . . . . thanks.

If he could that would be fine, but of course the further you go down in talent, the less likely that is possible. Here's the way I see it (starter/backup):

Ware/Burnett
James/Fowler (or whoever)
Ayodele/same
Singleton/Lawson(or other high OLB pick)

Singleton would get the starts in early weeks but would be immediately challenged by the draft pick.

if ayodele competed with Singleton for the OLB spot, he would definately win out. Ayodele is a much better OLB and i have seen him play a bit since i like watching the jaguars for some weird reason. he is a solid LB and if he ever competed for the SOLB hed start, but since he is here to play next to bradie james, thats what he will do.
