Do we get the number one rated QB in the draft or the best Defensive player in the draft? Basically is the old Romo that we knew, no more, or do we try and fix the defense and keep rolling the die with Romo. I know its early and shouldn't be talking about the draft, but last weeks loss really rub me the wrong way.

I would spend money on the best defensive player in FA like a Greg Hardy or Ndamokung Suh and then get the best QB we can get and have him sit under Romo for a year. We have built the pieces on offense, thankfully, to break in any young QB. We just have to see how the defense performs this year.

If the Cowboys go 3-13, it's probably because Romo failed. Obviously, if Romo fails to regain his form this season, then a QB would be the pick.

I don't see any surefire Franchise QB's this draft. Not sold on Winston, and Mariota to be might be a system QB with very good measurables.

Too many question marks to know for sure. My guess is that if we are 3-13, it's b/c Romo is terrible.

Having said that, I'd still probably go defense with an early pick. We're in the process of building a run game and can then focus on building a defense...exactly like what Seattle did for Russel Wilson and, before that, Pitt for Roeth. I think that's how you have to win in this league now, not necessarily get a superstar qb.

I also don't particularly love any of the QBs in this draft, so there's that.

1 defensive player can very seldom change a horrible team.

1 QB can greatly change a horrible team (Luck, Stafford, Cam, Tannehill, Ryan, Wilson, etc.)

Does not belong there, at the moment.

Why can't we do both? Trade Dez Bryant - take that salary and sign SUH and then draft a top tier QB. I know people hate SUH, but the guy plays almost every play in a game and is a force to be dealt with. We need so attitude and some intimidation on this team. Pairing him with R. Mcclain & Melton would be a nice combo on defense.

Other than Luck, I don't think any one of those quarterbacks turned the team around on his own.

I think this team looks terrible, but I don't see how they could go 3-13 this season with Washington, New York and Philly in their Division. All three of those teams looked like hot garbage this last weekend to the point that I think Dallas may go 5-1 in the Division again. Throw in the Rams and Jaguars and you are looking at this team possibly, improbably competing for a very weak NFC East Division crown.

Man how the NFC East has fallen.

Maybe not on their own, but it certainly laid a foundation that they could build around moreso than any defensive player.

Unless there's a JJ Watt in this year's upcoming draft, if this team is bad enough to get a top 5 pick, then I don't see how you can't address the QB position.

Depends on the QB, depends on the defensive player.

I honestly haven't seen anything to make me believe that this team would spend a Top 5 pick on a QB, even if one was available. Romo's contract means he has to not just stay on the team, but start, for the next 2 - 3 years. They won't want to spend a Top 5 pick on a QB, and have the guy sit on the bench for 2 - 3 years, that's just not how they approach the draft.

I could see them easily spending it on a defensive player.

We could go 11-5 this year and I'd still want to address Qb in the draft. It's time for us to prepare for the future.

No his contract doesn't. We can cut him as a June 1st cut next year if we really needed to.

It would depend on how the team got to 3-13. If it was injuries then I'm not sure you draft a QB in the first round but if it is due to Romo then maybe looking at a QB in the first round is a good idea.

If they go 3-13 but romo isnt "done" id look to see if there is a qb expected to fall to the second that you can develop for a year or two. Clowney/carr last year or something like that.
