Hypothetical Romo/Orton playoff scenario

Let's assume that Jason Garret is telling the truth, and that Romo is "day to day" and not definitely out for the season.

Suppose Orton wins next week and then wins the first round playoff game with whatever team it happens to be against. Orton has played good football, not earth shattering, but good. Tony is cleared by the doctors to play in the divisional round game and is said to be in good health.

Would you give the nod to Tony, or keep Orton as the starter?

End of thread.

If Orton wins one or two games, it'll be because the Cowboys committed to giving the ball to Murray 30 times a game, not because Orton's out there tearing it up.

Maybe, but look at Chicago right now. Josh Mccown was playing really well for the Bears and got benched as soon as the "star" QB came back. Would you take out the guy with momentum and the hot hand just for the sake of having Romo back in there?

You must be kidding?

Cutler played great against a good Browns team last week. NOTHING went right for Chicago last night. The Eagles' pass rush was just flat out working, and they also got up really quick.

Remember what happened when our defense gave up 21 quick points? Our offense looked like trash because we were playing catch up.

Cutler played decent football, I wouldn't say great. 3 TDs, 2 INTs and 127 yards worth of help from Matt Forte. I'm not knocking Tony, but he hasn't been the same Tony that we've seen in the past. I don't know if it's injuries or just father time...but if Orton is playing well and Tony (despite being cleared) is coming in cold and still in pain...then I don't think the decision is as clear cut as some would think.

You'd have to give it back to Tony, but it is a fair question. Of course if Orton won a playoff game and then Tony lost the next one you can imagine the fall out. I think the Bears *** up their season by sitting McCown for Cutler.

The answer is perfectly clear. You don't start your journeyman backup over your franchise QB.

why would you bench Orton for a guy who has won one playoff win in 8 years and has choked in every elimination game hes played in?

I don't know what will happen but Romo finished the game yesterday and won it for us.

Considering his past, if he can tolerate the pain I think he plays. If this injury was as serious as is being reported, they would have already IR'd him by now. IMO

What the hell has Orton done other than lose his job to Tim freakin' Tebow?

Oh and yesterday was an elimination game and Romo not only did the opposite of choke, he did it with a herniated disc.

What has Romo done besides win one playoff game in 8 years?

And it was against a 3 win team. The fact that it came down to the last minute is pathetic.

Lol

Romo is exactly one million times better than Orton. You play Romo if he can play left handed on one leg.

A three win divisional foe on the road. A game which is always tough. You know this so why even mention it?

Romo isn't perfect but it could be much worse.

How funny would that be, Romo wins his first super bowl ring by his back up QB filling in for him and going onto a championship run. I know I wouldn't complain if that happened.

And hopefully they would learn from that and even when Romo returned, they would stay with it but just be better because the passing game would be more leathal.

We can dream
