But the last two years is more important. We should go by what has he done lately and lately, he has done nothing off the field to suggest he is a ticking time bomb. The only thing we have seen him done off the field is workout.

no, he has been handled well the past two years and so you see an illusion of maturity.

If someone offered 2 firsts for Dez you would have to consider it

But the reasoning for getting rid of Dez the OP provided isn't sound IMO

Dez is not a problem because he wants to cash in. That is what your agent is supposed to do, get the most money they can.
Dallas is NOT a running team now. The still need to throw.
A rookie WR will still have a learning curve with Romo that even Dez went through.

Unless it was a very high 1st, I wouldn't do it. I would franchise Dez this year and maybe think of trading him next year.

Harrison Smith improves this defense immediately. He's also better than the likely players available at 27.

Plus, you can always re-sign him. Minnesota would never trade Harrison Smith for the 27th pick. We'd be fools not to take Smith for the 27th pick.

I threw him in to make the hypothetical deal more enticing. You could sub Xavier Rhodes in there.

If they were going to pay what it would take to re-sign him, they could have signed McCourty as a free agent and kept the draft picks.

his folly is not linked to what he has shown in the past two years, it is linked to much farther back in his past. as I said, he has lost his mentor.

This logic is extremely flawed. You're attributing 100% of what he's shown us the past 2 years to his adviser/mentor, and zero % to Dez himself. This line of thinking alone is absurd.

Additionally, you're then ASSUMING that Dez has not matured at all and will automatically revert back to the questionable behavior of his very early 20's, and then to boot you state it as though it's fact.

You're perspective on this player is distorted.

A man can not reach for the stars unless he first stands on a firm ground. Wells has been his foundation, without that, he will fold like a house of cards. I will believe he will be okay without David Wells when I see it.

Why? Because he disagrees with you? Why isn't it plausible that his theory is as sound, or more so than yours? Because you want it to be?

Yeah, lets pay him Calvin Johnson money! Come to think of it, let's add 35 percent to it because you like him so much!

I'm pretty sure the answers to your questions are in the post of mine that you quoted.

WHAT IF...

Minnesota offered Adrian Peterson, the 11th pick, and Harrison Smith for Dez Bryant and the 27th pick.

For the record, I pretty much hate any scenario that includes trading Dez. For purposes of this WHAT IF, I'll go with the idea that Dallas has concluded Dez will never sign a long-term deal to stay.

It's a bad deal. Age before youth?

Anyone who wants Dallas to trade Dez or even considers it is one of 31 things: a fan of a team that's not the Cowboys

Oh stop. This sounds idiotic and a child's way of thinking. Seeing your avatar I see you are very biased.

He went into a well thought out process of why to trade him and what you could get. Believe me, there are hardly any untouchable players in sports. I'm sure Colts fan said the same about not signing Manning back.

To say someone is not a fan of the Cowboys because of one single player is dumb.

If we are going to trade him, trade him to Indy for 2 firsts and Moncrief whom I believe is a future #1 WR

I love Dez but this I would seriously consider. Dez is one of if not the greatest red zone receivers of all time but 2 day one starters and a top 15 pick? No brainer.
