Here Parnell gets beat bad. Free is on his man at the LOS. Romo steps up into the pocket and then goes down to avoid taking a hit.

And of course Mack is blocking nobody

Why does it have to be an injury situation? What if free just excels there and Parnell shakes off some of the rust? I think this could be a good solid line

I was speaking in the very least, the fact that he showed up like he did makes this a success. Everything else is just gravy..

Not sure if they will carry this into the first game or not. Wouldn't surprise me either way.

have to roll my eyes at some here. Free did much better at guard then I ever thought he could be but some here are anointing him as LA lite. Sorry no way jose.

In an emergency it will work but his best position is RT- leave him there. Parnell still looks to me like his injury is bothering him; ;last year he was much quicker and stronger then he has looked so far. Bernie is inconsistent and that is just not going to change. it is almost a pickem between Bernie/Free and Free/Parnell. I think as long as Parnell is the lesser at RT we need Free there.

Starters Smith, Leary, Frederick, Free, Parnell
Backups Bell, Bernadeau, Costa, Arkin
Arkin will most likely be inactive on gamedays with Bell possibly joining him on occasions

What about Killer? Maybe Killer over Arkin?

Free's job is to keep his man out of the pocket so Romo can step up.....the sack definitely was partially his fault but it wasn't a terrible play. If Romo had stepped up to the right he might have been fine.

I love how people rush to judgement and flip flop so quickly. Free was decent, not great, not terrible. I don't think there are any absolutes though....no way to say this early that he can be above average.

I have said over the course of the training camp and how things have worked out that we have three definite starters in Smith, Free and Frederick. It's just a matter of finding two more starters. Leary could be one, he looked good when he was out there. As for the last one, you have to decide who is better, Bernadea, Arkin or Parnell.

Broaddus is talking Bernadeau up but he sure looked ho hum to me. When starters for both teams were in we really had no success running to the left. When Tanner gained yards in the first half it was to the right. He was also having to make a guy miss in the backfield on most plays.

Parnell was meh as well. Not awful, but not really anything ever more than average.

I think Killer has met his ceiling, and Arkin might just be able to get even stronger and meet his ceiling. Plus with all the problems people have with Arkin the number 1 thing that a backup must be is healthy and durable, which he is. A backup who is often injured like Killer is worthless.

He got pushed back a little, not enough that it was his fault. Parnell clearly got beat and Romo stepped up two full steps and dropped. Free was not responsible for the sack.

I'd also like to see how free did at short yardage it might be a big disadvantage with his height

with free and parnell on the right side we will be a middle left running team. Every run we ran to that side seemed to get stuffed for no gain or a loss. The conundrum is Free sucks as a run blocking guardd, parnell looks like he sucks in general, his wiffs in PB last night were the same from last season. Bernie sucks as PB guard but Ok as a RB guard.
