I try not to let these stupid things people say get on my nerves too much. But everywhere i look they are praising the Eagles and giving these back handed compliments to the cowboys. Look at the front page of ESPN. The eagles beat themselves, the cowboys defense isnt good enough to win it all, the Giants are the team to beat, ect ect....

I had this stupid argument with a friend who is an eagles fan today. It seems like everything he reads is making him feel like his points have some merit. They all want us to feel badly because we won a close game. We are supposed to feel like our defense isnt good enough due to 1 game that was played in week 2. I think we can make a reasonable argument that 14 of the points were not the fault of our defense anyway.

So i decided to take a look at the Giants team stats from last year. Since i am so sick of everyone saying how they are better than us because of their defense. Here is how many points they gave up each week last year:

Now i can see some games where this defense i am so sick of hearing about gave up some pretty big numbers. How are they so superior to us?
What do these talking head idiots have that they can point to from last season that gives them the right to worship the Eagles for coming close?
They are calling the Eagles a force again.... Well if our dominance is now in question do to giving up 24 legit points or even 31 points. Then how are they suddenly a power or force when we hung 41 on them?

In defense of the OP, the mediots have been all over the Eagles jocks all day. Give them credit for playing well, but give the Cowboys credit for winning too. The former is happening. The latter not so much.

I have had to listen to people talk trash about my team my whole life. For most of it, minus the years while i was 345 and 6. I'm sure you all have had to endure it over the last decade as well. Why do you let what other people say bother you so much?

It is the fact that the LOSING team is getting more credit than the winning team. I do watch espn, sportscenter, NFL network, ect.
Somehow we play good enough to get the job done against a divisional rival and it seems like the commentators can only say that our performance was both a sign of weakness on our part and proof that the eagles are strong and back.
Do you remember last year the media saying any team that came close to the patriots are the real deal?
Do you remember the game last year Patriots vs Ravens when the Ravens had the officials take the game from them and hand it to the Patriots? The media didnt act like coming close was such a big deal for the Ravens.

The Eagles lost. They can say they played well. We can all say that. But they lost. Its a divisional rivalry game. It happens.
But it isnt necessary to boost them up so far and bring us down at the same time. Especially when we won.

I am actually embracing the fact that BSPN, et al, are brushing the 'Boys aside and saying how superior Philthy and NYFG are. I know their "logic" isn't logical, but I say let Philly/NY have the spotlight and be given the opportunity to drink the kool-aid and eat the cheese. Better for us!
