I don't get it

Yes, Washington is attempting to get better, making trades and freely spending in free agency. But it's a formula that has never worked in the NFL. Football is too much of a team game for collections of free agents to be successful in the window that they have to be together. Collections of free agents are just that, bunches of players in the same place. That doesn't make them a team, and it takes a team to win a Super Bowl.

None of this means the Skins won't be successful. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I would just rather spend prudently in free agency and build through the draft, a formula that's proven successful for the past decade.

I just don't understand sitting around and screaming every time Washington signs someone. All it does is make you look jealous and silly, a punchline for a joke or a sig line over on ES. Why do you think we're seeing a sudden influx of Commander fans here at the Zone? Could it be because they are enjoying a board full of Dallas fans wailing over the impending rise of their team?

I would have been happy with just one of the two WR's, and the LB.

Do you realize good teams are built through the draft? How many pics do you have this year and next? Why are you excited about signing 30+ year old players that were CUT by the teams they were previously with.

Basically the 'skins are doing a 2000 all over again. They'll be in cap hell in due time -- not that I care. I focus my attention on the team in Dallas, not the team in DC.

There is a difference in looking into what they are doing and being totally obsessed with them, as there is a lot of that here.

The reason the 'skins have money to spend in FA is really quite simple, outside the obvious being the new CBA. That reason being the 'skins don't have to spend the MILLIONS it takes to sign the 1st and 2nd rounders and allocate that to the proven commodities.

Yes, I agree it was a steep price to pay to get El, but if you step back and look at the whole picture, we filled many needs and fixed many problems. One, we have now changed the defensive philosophy of every DC we face. Gone are the days of the eight and nine in the box and CP will have a huge year IMO. Second, gone are the days of double and triple teaming Moss who will continue to excel in this offense.

People in general are acting like we have gone out and signed the Ray Lewis' and Terrrell Owens of the world. When in reality we have brought into two guys who are hitting their prime and could contribute for years.
