People complained that we don't have a young QB to groom for the future or use as trade bait... They complained that our special teams suck.. They complained that Folk never had any touchbacks.. They complained about Ellis mouth.. They complained that our safeties could not tackle and no linebacker depth. Now they are complaining that we didn't get any Sexy WR's or Safeties.. I confess that I don't know about most of the guys we drafted, but last year the only guys I heard about were Jenkins and F. Jones.. And thats because they were first round Picks.. I like the fact we drafted 12 players.. This will create much needed competition in Camps.. If some rookies can't make it so be it.

I liked our draft.

Jason Williams will be better than Burnett. We added hungrey players and improved two our our weakness', special teams and secondary/LB depth.

Our problem is not talent. It's coaching and you can't fix that in the draft.

I don't understand many fans myself, watching the draft and seeing the ridicules comments was dumbfounding. Dallas did not have a 1st rd and by the time the 2nd rd came many of the players Dallas was looking at were off the board so they make the trade instead of reaching in the 2nd. The other thing was focusing on position of why have we not drafted a safety or some other position. All in all I thought the draft went well for Dallas not spectacular but then it is hard to have a big draft when you don't have a #1

I Don't think some people realize that there are 31 other teams picking.. Chances are you are not going to get the player you want.

Very true. I also think people lock into 1 or 2 players they like and if you don't select that player some will have a cow. My main concern was Dallas not reach and in my view they didn't, Jerry stayed patient and we made some solid picks

Why would we needed to reach in the 2nd if we stayed put? That makes no sense.

So what was the alternative, trading down and then reaching?

Because many of the players Dallas liked in the 2nd were gone and found better value moving out of the 2nd. It makes no sense to make a pick just for the sake of making it. I did not think Dallas did reach for players I take it you do

So none of the players from #51 to #75 were better than what we ended up with? I really doubt that.

And yeah, Brewster was a reach, as was Butler. And their was no need for us to draft a kicker in the 5th when we have Folk. If we want someone to bring in just for kickoffs, I'm sure we could've found someone much later or as a FA.

As for the rest of the draft, I think Jason Williams has potential to be a starter here. I've advocated for years that we should take a QB at least every 2-3 years somewhere in the draft and I think McGee was a solid choice in the 4th. I also think we did fairly well in regards to value in the 6th and 7th rounds, but these guys are still 6th and 7th rounders.

Overall though, we had a subpar draft with no real impact players. And trading out of the 2nd that many positions into the 3rd and only netting an additional 4th rounder wasn't a good move. We'd been much better off taking the BPA at #51 and then drafting Jason Williams with the pick we originally had in the 3rd.

I'm one who says let's just see how it plays out. Last year's draft gave our guys some temporary cred in my eyes. My first impulse is to say this draft really, really sucked, given the ammo we had. And one reason is that I liked every single pick that the Eagles made--so I was was a bit envious.
