Could we have gotten Smith later on in the draft? Or was there a threat someone else was going to take him? Still trying to figure this pick out.

News flash.....Jerry like shiny things like Zeke in a half shirt and a top rated player sitting at 34.

Seems like people would be used to it by now.

Counter what? Your complete bull about what was on those clips you youtubed? Give me a break ..... you have no idea what the assignments were or what pathways were run. You are an armchair guy who looks at youtube videos, calls it tape, and acts like a draft guru.

Jaylon Smith was a unanimous choice as a top 3 player before his injury, you are making yourself look even dumber by trying to argue that point.

Like Jerry Jones lipsmacking dumb.

But please continue ........ its hilarious.

They're not just "clips", they aren't a bunch of lowlights. They are straight up game footage, all in complete context. If I'm acting like a "draft guru", you're acting like an inept fan incapable of forming your own opinion. YOU decided to reply to me saying I didn't think much of Smith. Context: Him as a top 5 talent. That doesn't automatically equate to him on the level of some undrafted FA.

So, either point out to me what you see of him on film or go talk to your wall. I don't care about your random scout quotes.

Once again here is a person that has bought into that defense wins championships BS. How many defenses you ever heard of in the history of football that has scored enough points on a consistent basis week in and week out to win any games let alone a championship?
POINTS WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND THE OFFENSE PUTS THOSE ON THE SCOREBOARD!!!!.

Ramsey was not going to have an effect on our defense or games to help us win games, it just does not happen like that. A special RB like Zeke helps instantly. Ramsey will not be as good as they are talking him up to be, you had better stop believing these talking heads on television. Start studying and doing your own research on players, on football and how the games flow

Easily countered: If points win championships, then stopping the opposing team from scoring is a winning formula.

This wasn't hard to point out the flaw in your argument.

My question is how much better. McFadden rushed for almost 1100 yards in 12 games as the starter. Had he started the entire year, you can add another third for around 1550 yards. DMC also had 328 receiving, so that would be about 437 over 16 games, for a total of close to 2000 total yards.

How much improvement will we see with Elliot in there? If he rushes for 1600 yards and catches 500, we gained 100 yards. Using a pick like #4 for an additional 100 yards does not seem cost effective.

Now DMC and s on the last year of his deal, and another season like last and he may want Murray money. So, if we got Elliott as a hedge against that big contract, and can get the same production as DMC for much l SS money, then great move. But picking him with the expectation we are going to see huge offensive gains is not proven out by the facts.

We are saving money, not gaining yards.
and after next year?
youve still got that elite rusher
u just signed one of the best linebackers in the league when he is healthy again
and you just gained a guy who will be a really good 3tech-and if they slide crawford back out to lde then we upgraded 2 spots on the dline (as i wasnt enthalled with crawford as a 3tech,but this way he is an upgrade opposite dlaw over the play we received last year

Probably, could have had Jack too.

This is the craziest part. Could have got a dynamic LB and STILL had a decent chance to grab Smith late in the draft. If not, who cares, you ended up with a LB that will contribute earlier than Smith will.

I don't like the draft so far. yes I think Zeke Elliott is a going to be a good player, but what's the difference between Morris/McFaddena and Zeke? vs. Ramsey and Carr. Instead of Ramsey, Jones, Scandrick DB backfield, we have Carr, Scandrick and Jones.....

Offense gets you to the playoffs. defense wins championships.

take ramsey and one of the DEs or DTs....then we can start to talk a championship team...

and once again....2nd round and huge risk/reward and it hasn't worked out over the past 12 years......

Well Zeke is an every down back and >>>>>>>>>>>McFadden at this point, and Morris combined.

Pretty sure this draft wasn't gonna solve our defensive in anytime soon helping us win a championship.

Why not get a LB'er like Ragland who could actually have an impact this year?

I'm still in shock at the Jaylon Smith pick. So, so bad.

I am not sure it is bad, just hard to understand our logic this year for team improvement. I give them the benefit of the doubt with the injury, we just seem scattered with our plan. This is a result of nepotism in the front office.

One of the best LB in the league...really....the kid hasn't even put on a Cowboys helmet or took a snap in the NFL and he is the best in the league...wow How bout just get him healthy and able to take the fied before sending him to Canton. Homerism is overrated just like the hype an hope Cowboys. Hope Jaylon Smith will play again, someday soon

It's pretty simple really - we do not have the time in the Romo window to rebuild the defense which by the way I don't think is that bad. There's plenty of picks left, FA's and maneuvering as training camps think out. First year defensive players almost always struggle (yes that includes Jaylon Smith if he's ready) and we need an immediate impact player.

Another reason why Zeke is the better pick is if Ramsey is that awesome teams will just stay away from him. He's a non factor on the field for much of the game. Zeke impacts virtually every offensive play.

Get Scanderick back, David Irving, Lawrence and Gregory, Crawford will be better this year, McClain and Lee when healthy are formidable and Jones will finally solidify part of the safety problem.

It's a weak division and teams will have to outscore us to win. Offense should've got us to the NFC Championship game two years ago.

I think we'll be right in the mix.

Love our first pick. Elliott is likely the best player in this years draft. Smith could be a home run pick. Not sure about the DT from Nebraska. B+ overall.

Cook had great offensive lines, solid receivers, and running backs and only completed 58% passes in his college career. I'm just not sure he's that good.
