Why do we have a guy who wasn't really wanted on a Kansas City defense and let go for 2 very low round draft picks getting more playing time than our high 2nd rounder. Fujita gave up a 60 yard pass to Shockey and had 2 tackles against the Giants. Burnett could do that with his eyes closed. Bill is playing our younger guys (which I like) but where is Burnett. The guy makes plays when he's on the field and gets a feel for the game. He needs to be our OLB next year, why are we waiting?

Because Coach Parcells is oppressing Burnett just like he did ReShard Lee and Antonio Bryant and is trying to do with Tyson Thompson.

Well,
Probably because Burnett is not well suited to play the strong side. Fujita has the size and pass rush ability to play strong side. Burnett wll find his role with this team in due time.

Reshard Lee is on his 3rd NFL team

Bryant was a disruptive non team player

Tyson Thompson split the starting job in college and I read only played 8 games in college! Maybe he's not ready - Parcells knows a heck a lot more about that. I trust him 100% on that call.

I just haven't seen anything out of Fujita with his ideal OLB size and pass rush ability that has made me say this was a good pick up. I know we needed depth but he's getting 50% of the snaps. Anyone no how big Burnett is compared to Fujita?

Burnett : 1) Can't seem to stay healthy.

Burnett is: 2) a rookie and lacks experience compared to Fujita.

Burnett is: 3) probably not the All-Pro that many on here think he already is ..... yet.

Burnett is playing a different position. Burnett is #2 on the depyh chart behind Ware. Fujita is better suited for the strong side and he should be playing over Singleton. They are starting to split series so hopefully by the end of the year it will be Fujita's postion. Burnett is doing great on ST. His time will come be patient.

1) He's been healthy for weeks now
2) all rookies lack experience, hence the name "rookie"- all of our rookies are getting playing time except Burnett.
3) Who said he's an all-pro- He's our 2nd round draft pick that isn't playing on a group of LB's that everyone said was the weakest part of our team. So we draft a LB in the 2nd round and he isn't playing. Doesn't upset you at all. I just want to see him get snaps.

I just think if Jay Ratliff can get 25 snaps we should be able to involve Burnett a little bit. The Chiefs let him go after leading their team in tackles. As he showed from last week, he isn't all that great. Like I said though, no disrespect. Our defense is playing great.

Fujita gave up that play because he thought Shockey was going to sit in the flat but no, Shockey made the double move that ended up being a wheel route.

As BP said, Fugita is having trouble picking up the pass coverage responsabilities of a 3-4 OLB.

That "little mess up" put the Giants right back in the game. I know the "coaches aint stuped" but don't you want to see your 2nd round draft pick play?

I think you may have answered your own questions there. Fujita has played at a high level in this league and he has the size and skills that we need on the outside. He was brought here to play that position and is being worked into it far too slowly IMO.

Also, Burnett was injured during the offseason and through much of training camp. That is where a player learns his position and the scheme; not during practice while the team is getting ready for a game. He is way behind the curve due to his injuries at those critical times. And Burnett has never struck me as a 3-4 type LB from the start; he seems much better suited for a 4-3 scheme.

BTW it has not been determined whether Bradie James or Roy Williams was responsible for Shockey's catch. Fujita was covering a RB on that play; Shockey was not his man.
