Just too much smoke without some fire somewhere.
I hate the thought of that Jerk in the same uniform Roger once wore;
but that appears to be the way it will be.
I am still hoping that TO or Rosenhouse will screw it up- but I am slowly
becoming resigned to having IT here.
I really thought that BP would not want to take this on- but I guess he
figures that since this is his last stop he might as well go out big.
Something to be said for that I guess.
I am really depressed- because I absolutely believe that TO will do to
us what he did to SF,Balt,the birds.
Its just a matter of time.

When you brought Roger's name into it, you depressed me as well!

I'm hoping that if he's coming, it's basically a "1 year" contract. By that I mean even if the contract is for 3 years (as rumored), there is a clause that we can cut TO after 1 year, if necessary.

At least that way TO has to stay on good behavior consistently.

My fear is that we give him a 3 year contract with no out clause for the Cowboys, that in the middle of the contract, his antics start again.

burmafrd, I understand your concerns. I just don't agree with them. TO has problems and everyone knows it. I doubt he will keep his mouth shut over the long haul. However, his on field production has never been an issue. He will do well for at least one year wherever he goes and if the contract is OK maybe longer.

I don't blame Jerry and BP for being interested. They want to win and in today's world it is hard to do it the old fashioned way strictly through the draft. They want to win now and that requires impact players (and a good supporting cast). The Cowboys were on the cusp of being a pretty good team last year and this deal means they think they have a shot at the SB this year.

Ultimately, if this deal occurs, it is a marriage of convenience. In today's NFL most player-team relationships are strictly business. We couldn't keep Emmitt Smith and we couldn't keep Keyshawn. The Cowboys will use TO to take a short lived run while we continue to gather young players and he will use the Cowboys to try to make some money and recover from the disaster he helped create in Philadelphia.

I'm not sure the deal is done, but it has always seemd like a good fit to me. The offense may change considerably to take advantage of his particular talents. The ride may be bumpy but it wont be dull!
