Stoops is over rated, and I hope he's never coaching the Cowboys.

Can't tackle, can't cover and they blitz everyone and still can't get to the qb. And let me also add they give up a quick td before half in around a little more then a minute.

Stoop apologists need not apply, the NFL will have hostile crowds, trap games, bye weeks to deal with, free agency and the draft, sudden death over time. If he can't handle the pressure cooker on the biggest stages the college ranks have to offer then don't expect him to lead the Dallas Cowboys to glory.mr.jameswoods;1281081 said:OU was put in a very dificult situation. They had everything to lose and nothing to gain. I'm sure Stoops would have preferred to have played Wisconsin or Arkansas. Furthermore, that stadium had far more Boise St. fans than OU fans. It was basically a home game for them.
I think Stoops did an admirable job this year. He lost his starting QB and had to convert Paul Thompson from a receiver back to a quarterback again. That was pretty evident with the 3 interceptions Thompson threw.
Sure, Stoops deserves criticism as well. Why did he not have a legitimate backup QB to Brett Roehmer. A school like OU has no excuse not to have depth at QB. Furthermore, Stoops playcalling was suspect tonight. Like why did he throw on 3rd and 4 in the second quarter. Why didn't he call any intermediate passes in the flats or short over the middle. He was asking Paul Thomas to be Peyton Manning and throw downfield which is not his forte

mr.jameswoods;1281111 said:Not a Stoops apologist but a realist. The reality is that Boise St. in addition to other teams were better than Oklahoma. OU lucked out in that they play in the Big 12. It just made it worse that they were put in a very bad situation.
Also, if you are going to pretend to be an intelligent and objecitve writer, try to include the fact he won a national championship with another coaches players. That team had arguably slightly more talent if not similar talent to the one he had tonight and he basically shut out Florida St. if not the voluntary safety they took.
