I have a LB question...

With all that John Kitna said this week about Bradie James' inability to rush the passer and/or cover, is there any other LB on this team that could play in his place? Kitna had some very good years w/ Seattle, so I don't think he's just stirring things up, but stating an honest opinion. If the 'Hawks get 10 yards a pop they will control the game, eat-up the clock and beat us handily.

And hasn't Bradie James been one of BP's favorites since day one? How can he play so poorly?...

I dont trust Bradie James 1 bit.

He is just too slow to meet RBs at the line or catch them on outside runs or cover anyone.

I wanna see us move Carp inside along Akin for next year if we stick with the 3-4.

Agreed. I have really liked what I have seen from Burnett, and possibly he can play opposite Ware.

However, Burnett has mainly played in the nickel, and playing opposite Ware would be a completely different situation.

No one is going to replace James tomorrow. It's too late for that. Look for Carpenter to replace him if we stick with the 3-4 next year, however.

But the big problem with that is the Cowboys just game James a big contract, which I have no earthly idea why they did that.

Another reason why Jerry Jones doesn't need to be GM....:banghead:

For the eleventy-billionth time, Bradie James's contract was not that big. In fact, we're paying Al Singleton more this year than what will be paying James for the next 2-3 years.

James's contract is right in line with a solid veteran backup (potential starter).

Bradie James has been doing this his entire career, and it's not just him. He was LOST two years ago, and he lucked into some breaks last year. People highly overrated him coming into this season, and now they're paying.

Now you see why I wanted to wait until the season was over to sign/not sign James... let him play out his contract year. Now that 5 years and $20 mil they signed him for in September is looking a little steep, isn't it?

Depends on how its structured. a 5/20 contract is probably actually more like a 3 year contract worth 9 million, including the signing bonus. Likely theres a large escalation in years 4 and 5 that both sides knew he would never see. The max signing bonus, say 4-5 million, plus an average yearly of about 1-2 for the first three years. Theres probably 10+ million due to him in the last 2 years, that he is never going to get.

Signing bonus: $8000000.00

2007.....1500000.00
2008.....1750000.00
2009.....2623000.00
2010.....2950000.00
2011.....3500000.00

In comparison, Singleton is making $2170000 this year. Aaron Glenn, a veteran who isn't even a true starters is making $1700000 next year.

Bradie James is cheap.

The signing bonus hurts a little, but the base salaries are easily manageable.

Yeah, the signing bonus was the only thing steep about his contract. And I would say it was too steep for James. But if he's here for at least 4 years of his contract it's not that big of a hit yearly.

It doesn't matter what his contract is, he just can't play very well. Either that or he's following Zimmer's/BP's instructions to the letter and other teams have adjusted to whatever he's doing...
